Maharajas' Express – Experience Royalty on Rails

The Maharajas' Express is India’s newest luxury train and offers journeys through Rajasthan, Golden Triangle and Western India. Ever since steam locomotives were first developed in the early 19th-century, there is something irresistibly romantic about luxury train travel. Add India to the mix and you've got a train journey that evokes a sense of grandeur, romance and adventure. Experience India's most captivating scenery through cities that offer insights into the rich heritage and culture.

One of five luxury trains operating in India, the Maharajas’ Express has 14 guest carriages with a total capacity of 88 guests. It offers five itineraries that cross India's state borders and provides an unrivalled way of seeing some of the best-known sights in the north and west India. This includes a seven-day epic journey from Delhi to Mumbai, taking in Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Vadodara along the way.

Life on board is all about comfort. All the cabins and suites are wonderfully regal with huge windows, comfortable beds, LCD TV's and DVD players. Those wanting more space can book the two-bedroom Presidential Suite, which has a living room and a dining table. Among the highlights is a decadent Champagne lunch on a hillock overlooking the Taj Mahal, a tiger-spotting jeep safari in Ranthambore National Park and elephant polo matches in Jaipur culminating in a Champagne dinner.

There are two restaurants; the Mayur Mahal (Peacock Restaurant) and the Rang Mahal (Haveli Restaurant) where are variety of delicious local and western style meals are served on fine Limoges china, Swarovski hand-cut crystal glasses and monogrammed cutlery. The Safari Bar is well stocked with a variety of the finest labels of wines and spirits from around the world.
