Taj Mahal Palace is a historic landmark hotel, set in a prime location overlooking the Gateway of India monument and the Arabian Sea. Housed in two separate wings, the Taj Mahal Palace has 560 rooms and suites. The palace interiors are palatial in style with high-vaulted ceilings, grand arches, ornate décor and works of art and furnishings that wouldn’t be out of place in a museum. The 22-storey Tower Wing, built in 1973 offers a mix of European style and Indian elegance with views overlooking the city or the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea. All are elegantly decorated and equipped with the latest mod-cons.
Explore the world of cuisine in ten restaurants and bars, featuring cuisine from India, Europe, the Middle East and the Orient. Facilities include an outdoor and indoor swimming pool and the Taj Group’s flagship Jiva Spa with breath taking views of the Arabian sea. Take to the seas on the hotel's yacht with three air-conditioned bedrooms and a salon complete with a bar and entertainment system. Cruise across the periphery of Elephanta Island and stop to view medieval period caves.
Stay The Taj Mahal Palace offers 560 rooms. There are 285 rooms and suites in six categories in the Palace Wing and 275 superior and deluxe rooms in the Tower block. Palace rooms are relatively small but supremely comfortable with Italian marble bathrooms and Rajput bay windows overlooking the sea, the pool or the city. The Tower rooms are less ornate but contemporary in style with restful mint and mauve hues and overlook the city or face the Gateway of India.
ChildCare Families with children are very welcome to stay at Taj Mahal Palace. Kids receive the hotel’s trademark activity passport on arrival and embark on a bespoke programme of stimulating activities during their stay. Babysitting service is available on request.
Dine Home to ten of the city’s most celebrated restaurants, the Taj Mahal Palace featuring the best of Indian, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Szechuan, European and casual dining. Masala Kraft is the place to sample local specialities at lunch and dinner. Further dining options include the award-winning Wasabi by Morimoto specialises in seafood flown from Japan, and Souk on the tower rooftop offers a range of Eastern Mediterranean dishes supervised by its Syrian chef.
Relax Facilities at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel include swimming pools, a fitness centre with a steam room and sauna. Experience rickshaw ride through the Bollywood hills past the film stars' mansions in the area, then visit the industrial-chic hotspots of Lower Parel with various restaurants and cocktail bars. Art lovers may like to visit Kala Ghoda neighbourhood, Mumbai's own Shoreditch or experience life in the slums of Dharavi.

Getting there Fly into Mumbai's Chattrapathi Shivaji International Airport. From there the Taj Mahal Palace is a 45-minute drive.
When to go Mumbai has pleasant weather throughout the year. The city has mild winter which is ideal for travelling. Summers can be hot and humid. However, during the monsoon season, it receives copious rainfall. Hence, the best time to visit Mumbai is between October and March.
