Chanoud Garh is a heritage hotel, set in a 300-year-old palace of Chanoud, located between Jodhpur and Udaipur in Rajasthan. Built by Thakur Anoop Singh Ji, it has been in the hands of the same family for 13 generations and is now hosted by Thakur Ajeet Singh Ji. The huge mansion has been painstakingly restored and fitted with modern facilities, retaining the original style and character. Situated off the beaten tourist track, it serves as an excellent base to experience local rural life.
Set around two main courtyards, Chanoud Garh houses just ten spacious rooms and suites. Each are unique in design and tastefully decorated in traditional Rajasthani style, showcasing the history of this intriguing building. The in-house palace kitchen serves delicious home-cooked meals that include traditional dishes from family’s favourite recipes and served al fresco on the rooftop terrace or in one of the courtyards.
The small village of Chanoud is nestled in the Pali district at the foot of the Aravalli hills. Set off the beaten track, it is known for its 300-year-old palace, or Chanoud Garh, with delicate filigree work and surrounded by regal courtyards and walls painted with coloured murals. Outside of the palace, guests can visit the nearby salt flats or Lake Chanoud, idyllic spots for enjoying a dramatic sunrise. Other activities include jeep safari to local villages, walking and biking or a camel safari.
Amenities
Stay Chanoud Garh offers just ten air-conditioned rooms and suites. Each is uniquely designed in regal Rajasthani style with some featuring stunning stained-glass windows and others boasting original stone archways, beautiful frescos and impressive carvings. Spacious and beautifully-presented, they're all furnished with period-style furniture, antique artefacts and featuring large contemporary bathrooms with premium toiletries.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at the Chanoud Garh but there are no specific facilities available for children. However, babysitting service can be arranged on request.
Dine There is a choice of three dining options at Chanoud Garh which include Moti Mahal, Khelikhana and the Janana Mahal Chown. Meals include traditional home-cooked Rajasthani cuisine, with many of Singh’s family favourite recipes that have been passed down through the generations. Dinner is served either in the courtyard or on the rooftop terrace where guests can share a table with Thakur Ajeet Singh Ji and enjoy an interesting conversation about the regions history and the hotel.
Relax Take a morning walk around the village accompanied by Mahiraj Singh, which allows you to meet the locals, including the village potter and shop owner. The Singh Family still take their (now unofficial) role as maharajas of Chanoud Garh very seriously. As a result, they are always involved in improving the facilities in the village school and local hospital and locals are often invited to the fort during major festivals or village celebrations.

When to go Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away from European winters. Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. Although it rarely rains in Rajasthan, the temperature drops slightly during the Monsoon period from July to September, and humidity increases. Post-monsoon period from October to November is the official "tourist season" in Rajasthan that extends into the winter months from December to March when its warm during the day and chilly at night.
