Shakti Ladakh Village Houses, Ladakh | Luxury Holidays in India | AsianGeographicalAdventures.com

Shakti Ladakh Village Houses offers six houses located in different villages on the high Ladakh plateau. Most of the villages lie at between 3,200 and 4,000 metres - the height of the permanent snowline in the Alps. The spruced-up local village houses are for the exclusive use of individual guests who are pampered by a team of staff; drivers, guides and chefs, as the stay here is on an all-inclusive basis; meals, excursions and (excluding premium brand) alcohol.

The six Shakti Ladakh Village Houses are traditional in style; packed mud bricks that keeps it warm and flat roofs since it rarely rains (but that is now changing). Inside, rooms are individually decorated in minimalistic décor and furnished with comfortable beds draped in fine cotton sheets and sitting areas with local wood-burning stoves. The menu is usually a mix of traditional Tibetan and Indian cuisine with some western dishes but the chef will check with you about your choices.

Ladakh is a high-altitude region where serious consideration must be given to acute mountain sickness (AMS) that can strike anyone, regardless of age or fitness. Most guests suffer mild headaches and upset stomachs, symptoms that pass after two days of sleeping, drinking lots of tea and soaking up the views of the rugged, lilac-tipped mountains. After that you can start exploring with Shakti Ladakh guides; the Stok and Shey Palaces and Thiksey and Hemis monasteries.
