Exclusively Asia
The difference with the Asian Geographical is, that each of our holidays is designed with extreme precision of a mountaineering expedition.
Small Group Tours & Tailor-Made Holidays
A country of soaring mountain ranges, crystalline alpine lakes and a nomadic culture as vivid and alive as anywhere in Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan is one of Asia's most rewarding and least-discovered destinations. Over 90 percent of its territory lies above 1,500 metres, making it a landscape of extraordinary natural grandeur — a world of glaciers, wildflower meadows, high passes and remote jailoo summer pastures where the traditions of the Kyrgyz nomads remain vibrantly intact.
The Tian Shan and Pamir-Alay mountain ranges that dominate Kyrgyzstan create not just breathtaking landscapes but a culture shaped entirely by altitude and seasonality. Kyrgyz herders still move their livestock to high summer pastures each year, living in traditional yurts beside glacial rivers as their ancestors have done for millennia. For travellers seeking an authentic encounter with nomadic life, Kyrgyzstan offers an experience of rare and genuine depth.
At Asian Geographical, we craft tailor-made Kyrgyzstan holidays and small group tours that go far beyond the standard itinerary. From trekking in the wild Terskey Alatoo range above the vast Issyk-Kul lake to riding with eagle hunters in the Tian Shan foothills and staying in yurt camps beneath the glaciers of the Central Tian Shan, our Central Asia specialists design Kyrgyzstan itineraries of exceptional authenticity and adventure.
Best of Borneo
KYRGYZSTAN NOMADIC CULTURE AND YURT STAYS: Kyrgyzstan offers one of the most authentic encounters with living nomadic culture anywhere in the world. Staying in a traditional yurt beside a high-altitude lake, sharing meals with a Kyrgyz herding family and riding through mountain pastures on horseback are experiences of rare genuineness — a window into a way of life that has remained essentially unchanged for centuries and that survives in Kyrgyzstan with a vitality found nowhere else in Central Asia.
ISSYK-KUL LAKE KYRGYZSTAN: The second-largest alpine lake in the world, Issyk-Kul is Kyrgyzstan's most celebrated natural landmark — a vast expanse of deep blue water rimmed by the snow-capped peaks of the Tian Shan range, never freezing despite its altitude of 1,607 metres. The southern shore offers the wilder, more remote experience — with ancient petroglyphs, the medieval town of Karakol and access to some of the finest trekking in the Terskey Alatoo range.
KYRGYZSTAN TREKKING AND MOUNTAINS: Kyrgyzstan is among the finest trekking destinations in Asia — a country of exceptional mountain scenery, high passes and remote valleys accessible to walkers of all abilities. The Tian Shan range offers routes from gentle valley walks to multi-day wilderness treks through landscapes of glaciers, wildflower meadows and ancient rock art. The Central Tian Shan, dominated by the massive Peak Lenin and Khan Tengri, is a serious mountaineering destination of world-class status.
KYRGYZSTAN EAGLE HUNTING HERITAGE: The ancient tradition of hunting with golden eagles is deeply woven into Kyrgyz cultural identity — a practice that dates back thousands of years and remains a source of immense national pride. The eagle hunters of the Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions are among the most skilled in Central Asia, and witnessing their work — a great golden eagle launched from a gauntleted fist to stoop across a winter mountain landscape — is one of the most thrilling spectacles Kyrgyzstan offers.

The difference with the Asian Geographical is, that each of our holidays is designed with extreme precision of a mountaineering expedition.
BISHKEK AND THE CHUY VALLEY: Kyrgyzstan's laid-back capital is a pleasant, leafy city of wide Soviet boulevards and lively bazaars that serves as the natural starting point for any Kyrgyzstan holiday. The excellent State History Museum provides a superb introduction to Kyrgyz culture and the nomadic traditions of the steppe, while the nearby Ala Archa National Park — a dramatic gorge of glacial rivers and alpine meadows just 40 minutes from the city — offers outstanding day trekking.
ISSYK-KUL AND THE NORTHERN TIAN SHAN: The great Issyk-Kul lake basin is Kyrgyzstan's most visited region — and justifiably so. The northern shore offers resorts and easy access, but it is the wilder southern shore that rewards the more adventurous traveller. The town of Karakol is the gateway to superb mountain trekking in the Terskey Alatoo range, including the classic Karakol valley and the extraordinary Altyn Arashan hot springs, set in a remote valley beneath glaciated peaks.
SONG-KUL LAKE AND THE HIGH PASTURES: Reached by a dramatic mountain road across a high pass, Song-Kul is one of the most beautiful and remote lakes in Kyrgyzstan — a high-altitude plateau lake at 3,016 metres where Kyrgyz herders bring their livestock each summer, setting up yurt camps around the lakeshore in a scene unchanged for centuries. Staying here overnight, as the sun sets over the water and the horses roam freely across the surrounding pasture, is the defining Kyrgyzstan experience.
OSH AND THE FERGANA VALLEY GATEWAY: Kyrgyzstan's second city and ancient Silk Road hub, Osh is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia — a place of great bazaars, the sacred Sulayman Mountain and a rich cultural mix of Kyrgyz, Uzbek and Tajik traditions. The surrounding Fergana Valley and the remote Alay range to the south offer superb trekking opportunities, while the Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserve to the northwest shelters a pristine lake of extraordinary beauty.
