Casa Colvale, Goa | Luxury Holidays in India | AsianGeographicalAdventures.com

Casa Colvale is a beautiful riverside boutique resort, backed by lush tropical gardens near a small Colvale village, along the Chapora River in Northern part of Goa. Originally designed as a private residence incorporating the incredible surroundings, the elegant villa with all its original character now serves as a luxurious place to stay for travellers. Situated in the peaceful suburbs of Goa, it is fairly close to the city centre, its historical churches and the lovely beaches along its western coast.

Situated near the century-old fishing village of Colvale, the Casa Colvale resort has just 11 luxurious rooms and suites. These are on two levels; five bedrooms at the upper level that lookout over the river and the jungle beyond and seven bedrooms at the lower level that merge with the river through a decking area where guests take their meals. All the rooms have glorious sit-outs or private terraces offering breathtaking views of the backwaters with an abundance of wildlife.

Meals are generally taken al fresco on the terrace overlooking the river or by candle light on the riverfront deck. For relaxation there are two pools and plenty of areas within the Casa Colvale building and within its beautiful gardens. In the surrounds are off-the-beaten tracks, perfect for walks or bike rides. Alternatively, head down river on the hotel’s own speedboat, or even try your hand at kayaking on the river. The hotel also has a spa and offers Indian cookery courses.

There is also a lovely bar shaded by coconut palms, stocked with Indian and global brands including the local Feni drink.

Experience Surrounded by a lush forest, Casa Colvale offers a variety of activities including boat trips, fishing tours and cookery courses. About 30 mins drive from the hotel are the relaxed beaches of Ashwem, Mandrem and Morjim, where much of the yoga community holds court. One day spend an afternoon in Panjim, also called Panaji, to explore the state capital's Portuguese history. Visit the Catholic Basilica de Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and other 16th-century churches.

Location Casa Colvale is located in North Goa overlooking the Chapora River near the coastal belt in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Getting there Fly to Goa's Dabolim Airport (via Mumbai), followed 1-hour 15-minute transfer to Casa Colvale.

When to go The best time to visit Goa is between late October and early April. The peak tourist season is from mid-December to mid-January, when the weather is near perfect, with daytime temperatures rarely going beyond 32°C. The monsoon season begins around June, when the hot temperatures of summer are cooled with an influx of clouds and rain. On average, the hottest months of the year are April and May.
