Myanmar Tours & Holidays

Small Group Tours & Tailor-Made Holidays

Myanmar, formerly Burma, is a land of golden pagodas, ancient ruins, and unspoiled landscapes that transports travellers to a world untouched by time. Home to some of Southeast Asia’s most breathtaking cultural and natural wonders, Myanmar offers a journey through historic temples, tranquil lakes, and vibrant local traditions.

The plains of Bagan, dotted with over 4,000 ancient stupas, create one of the world’s most awe-inspiring archaeological sites. In Yangon, the gleaming Shwedagon Pagoda stands as a symbol of Myanmar’s deep Buddhist heritage, while the royal city of Mandalay enchants with its palaces, monasteries, and hilltop temples. Drift along the Irrawaddy River, where life unfolds on its banks, or explore the floating villages of Inle Lake, where fishermen balance on one leg as they cast their nets.

For the adventurous, the Shan Hills offer scenic treks through remote tribal villages, while the gravity-defying Golden Rock Pagoda at Mount Kyaiktiyo remains one of Myanmar’s most sacred sites. Whether discovering the medieval ruins of Mrauk-U or the hidden wonders of Putao, Myanmar is a destination of untamed beauty and profound spirituality.

Myanmar Regions

YANGON AND SOUTHERN MYANMAR: Yangon is Myanmar’s main cultural gateway, known for Shwedagon Pagoda, colonial-era streets, markets, lakes and Buddhist neighbourhoods. Southern Myanmar adds river landscapes, coastal routes and quieter regional towns, giving travellers an introduction to the country’s spiritual life, architectural heritage and everyday local culture.

BAGAN AND CENTRAL MYANMAR: Bagan is Myanmar’s great temple plain, where thousands of pagodas, stupas and monasteries rise from the dry central landscape. Nearby villages, craft workshops and Irrawaddy River journeys add depth to this region, making it essential for Myanmar holidays focused on ancient history, Buddhist art and atmospheric scenery.

MANDALAY AND THE IRRAWADDY: Mandalay and the Irrawaddy region reveal Myanmar’s royal, monastic and river heritage. Ancient capitals, teak monasteries, hilltop pagodas, workshops and river crossings create a rich cultural journey, while the Irrawaddy connects towns, temples and rural communities through one of the country’s most important historic corridors.

INLE LAKE AND SHAN STATE: Inle Lake and Shan State offer mountain scenery, stilt villages, floating gardens, markets and distinctive lake culture. The region is known for traditional fishing, hill communities, monasteries and gentle boat journeys, providing a softer, more rural contrast to Myanmar’s temple plains and larger cities.

WEATHER IN Myanmar

The best time to visit Myanmar is during its dry season, from November to February. This period offers cooler temperatures and less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the country's cultural heritage and natural beauty.

  • Myanmar's weather varies across its diverse regions, influenced by its tropical monsoon climate. The country can broadly be divided into three regions: the coastal areas, the central plains, and the highlands.
  • Coastal areas, including cities like Yangon and the Irrawaddy Delta, experience a tropical monsoon climate with high humidity and frequent rainfall. The southwest monsoon brings heavy rains from May to October, with the wettest months being June to August. Temperatures remain consistently warm throughout the year, averaging around 30°c. Due to the heavy rains and high humidity, this region may not be the best choice for travel during the monsoon season.
  • In the central plains, which include Mandalay and Bagan, the climate is characterized by hot and dry weather, particularly from March to May. Temperatures can soar above 40°c during this period, making it quite uncomfortable for travel. The best time to visit these areas is during the cooler months from November to February when temperatures are more moderate.
  • The highlands, such as Shan State and the Chin Hills, experience a cooler and more temperate climate due to their higher elevation. Here, temperatures are milder, and rainfall is less intense compared to the coastal areas and central plains. The best time to visit the highlands is also during the dry season from November to February when temperatures are pleasant for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
  • In conclusion, the best time to visit Myanmar depends on the region you plan to explore. For coastal areas, it's best to avoid the monsoon season, while the central plains and highlands are most enjoyable during the cooler, drier months.
