The Leela Palace Udaipur

The Leela Palace Udaipur is an opulent, modern palace hotel, set on the banks of the tranquil Lake Pichola in Udaipur, Southern Rajasthan. You arrive in James Bond style, on a boat reminiscing the 1983 classic, Octopussy and are received with a shower of rose petals. Inside, royal furnishings evoke a bygone era of grandeur including silver thrones, crystal chandeliers, and copious amounts of black and white marble that cover its lavish interiors. The theme here is clearly one of ancient romance.

The world-renowned luxury resort designer Bill Bensley designed the Leela Palace Udaipur. Known for challenging the way how hotels are built, Bensley decorated its 80 rooms with a view to inspire guests. Believing that hospitality design is the fine art, he beautifully furnished the spacious rooms with artefacts and furniture that represent the handicrafts of the local area, yet offering all the modern amenities. The result is a mix of brick and tents preserving the surrounding environment.

Dining options at the Leela Palace Udaipur include a choice of traditional Indian and Western cuisine served in three separate venues. For relaxation there is a beautiful marble swimming pool and tented spa offering a range of remedies. In the surrounds are a number of carefully preserved 15th-century Hindu and Jain temples. Not-to-miss list includes an atmospheric sound and light show at the City Palace, and Sajjangarh, a crumbling but impressive hilltop castle.

Stay The Leela Palace Udaipur features 72 rooms and 8 suites. All are spacious in size and beautifully finished with comfortable beds, study tables and modern furnishings with a Mewari twist. Ensuite marble bathrooms have large bathtubs ideal for a soak. Most rooms have a balcony with views of the historical city of the tranquil lake Pichola. Suites are significantly more spacious, featuring a dining room, living room and study, as well as a private plunge pool on the balcony.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at The Leela Palace Udaipur. There are Duplex Suites that are suitable for families. Baby cots and babysitting can be arranged on request.

Dine Dining options at the Leela Palace Udaipur include three restaurants and bars. The Sheesh Mahal offers fine Indian dining on the terrace with fabulous views overlooking Lake Pichola. The traditional dining room serves a wide range of international dishes and is open all day. Enjoy afternoon tea in the hotel's courtyard, find a casual place to unwind at the Poolside or Library Bar, then make an evening more romantic with private dining within the hotel grounds.

Relax Facilities at the Leela Palace Udaipur include a large outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers and a tented spa offering treatments in a number of different locations depending on your preference. There is also a gym with steam rooms and daily yoga sessions. Guests can also opt for boat rides, cooking classes, private astrology lessons and evening puppet shows.

Experience Udaipur, is an enchanting 16th-century city in the heart of Rajasthan. Also known as the City of Lakes, it is surrounded by the scenic beauty of the lakes and the encircling Aravalli hills. The Leela Palace Udaipur can arrange city tours to include highlights such as the City Palace Museum, Crystal Gallery and Jag Mandir or the Lake Garden Palace. Other sights include Sajjangarh, a hilltop royal residence and Saheliyon ki Bari, the majestic gardens on the banks of the Fateh Sagar Lake.
