Evolve Back Coorg is a luxury resort, set on the Chikkana Halli Estate in India’s southwestern state of Kerala. Previously known as Orange County Coorg, this beautiful resort sits on a lush 300-acre plantation of coffee, just off the banks of the River Cauvery. Known as the heartland of Indian coffee, the hills of Coorg are spread with pepper, cloves, cardamom and other spices. At its heart, lies this luxurious resort offering a great place to relax and experience authentic south India.
Surrounded by rosewood, wild fig and jackfruit trees, the tranquil Evolve Back Coorg resort features 42 independent cottages. All are luxurious in style with terracotta tiled roofs, stone walls and a large veranda overlooking private pools. Inside, the décor is colonial in style; polished wooden or tiled floors with antique furniture and rich traditional fabrics. Plush beds are draped in fine cotton sheets and modern bathrooms have a bath and a shower with organic toiletries.
Dining options include a choice of three elegant restaurants at the Evolve Back Coorg including Peppercorn which serves delicious grilled dinner. Experiences include guided birdwatching and nature tour by walk or local boat through Dubare Reserve. Nearby, is Bylekuppe, the second largest Tibetan settlement outside Tibet with an impressive 40-foot high golden Buddha idol, best visited during their prayer sessions when over 400 monks congregate to chant in unison.

Stay Evolve Back Coorg features 42 villas, cottages and bungalows. All are spacious in size, reminiscing the past glory of planter’s luxurious lifestyle. Refined interiors include high beamed ceiling, tiled floors with four-poster beds draped in fine linen and comfortable seating area. Glass walls with glass-paned doors open out onto large verandas, some with private pools surrounded by a tropical garden. Modern amenities include air conditioning, TV, a fridge and tea, coffee making facilities.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Evolve Back Coorg. There is a children's activity centre with board games and table tennis as well as a separate splash pool. There are nature walks for children in the surrounding plantations and the Dubare Reserve Forest with rich birdlife.
Dine There are three restaurants at the Evolve Back Coorg. The Peppercorn is a speciality restaurant, with a serene setting overlooking the private lake and serves tasty barbecues. The fine dining, Plantain Leaf restaurant set amidst verdant coffee and spice plantations, serves an array of North and South Indian vegetarian delicacies. While Granary serves gourmet continental spread or the traditional Indian dishes with the signature Pandi Curry (spiced curried pork) and other gems.
Relax There is an array of facilities available at the Evolve Back Coorg. These range from a large communal pool and an exclusive infinity pool, to a romantic coffee lounge and library, and an esoteric Ayurvedic Spa. The Ayurveda Village has a team of experienced physicians to prescribe a customized regimen to suit your constitution. With herbal baths, oil massages, age retardation therapies…all amidst a soothing, tranquil natural environment.
Experience The Evolve Back Chikkana Halli Estate, Coorg, is ensconced in a lush 300-acre plantation filled with intoxicating aroma of coffee and spice. Take a guided birdwatching tour on the Western Ghats, home to over 25% of all bird species in India and a birdwatcher’s paradise. Also explore the plantation and learn first-hand the difference between different coffee and the process of making a fine cuppa. Later, take a Coracle (local fishing craft) ride on the river Cauvery or nature walks.

Getting there Fly to Bangalore International Airport. Orange County is 270km from Bangalore.
When to go Isolated from much of India by the Western Ghats, the climate of Kerala & Karnataka is tropical. The best time to visit is from January through to April. Summer is hot and humid; the monsoon season arrives in early June and lasts till August. While September can be dry and humid. There can be a little rain in October and November, cooling off around December and lasting until February.
