Alila Diwa is a beautiful Balinese-style boutique hotel, set amongst coconut groves and verdant paddy fields, on Gonsua Beach in Majorda, Goa. The resort blends contemporary Goan design with the traditional tile-roofed architecture and the surrounding village atmosphere to create an opulent haven of peace and tranquillity. Situated a bit away from the beachfront crowds, the hotel provides peaceful views over surrounding rice plantations and a serene atmosphere.
There are 153 spacious guestrooms and suites at the Alila Diwa Goa. These are housed within two separate sections of which the Diwa Club provides an enclave of exclusivity, boasting its own lap pool with an open-air Jacuzzi. Goan elements show up in the materials used; laterite stone, clay tiles on pitched roofs, and open-sided corridors that draw in the lush surroundings. However, the big draw here is the infinity pool, overlooking green fields with a rim of coconut trees.
Dining options include the open-kitchen Vivo that serves multi-ethnic cuisine and the Spice Studio, a purely Indian menu. Beach lovers can either take a short walk or a shuttle ride down to the Gonsua beach. There are some restaurants within easy walking distance or visit the Sahakari Spice Farm, where you can have a lunch buffet with a shot of cashew feni drink. One day, leave the beach to explore some of Goa's favourite flea markets and experience Goa's colonial legacy.
Amenities
Stay Alila Diwa Goa offers 153 rooms and suites, spread over two buildings. Rooms are contemporary in style, decorated in tropical luxury with latticed wooden floors, patterned carpets, dark wood furniture and memory foam bed. Room amenities include air-conditioning and lighting options for reading, relaxing or sleeping.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Alila Diwa Goa. There is a Kid's Club and Teen Zone with fun activities to keep children occupied throughout the day. Babysitting service can be arranged, on request.
Dine There are four restaurants in Alila Diwa Goa including the Spice Studio, their signature Indian restaurant set around a large banyan tree. The Bistro restaurant is located within the Diwa Club and has Mediterranean and Middle-East influenced food while Vivo has Oriental, Indian and Continental food. It is also where the complimentary buffet breakfast is served. Quench your thirst at the Edge Bar by the pool which has an array of drinks and cocktails, along with light snacks.
Relax Facilities at the Alila Diwa Goa include the Spa Alila offering Ayurvedic treatments from Asian healing techniques. There is a beautiful infinity pool overlooking green fields with a rim of coconut trees and a children’s pool. In addition, there is a library, movie theatre (two screenings every day), gym, yoga studio (with complimentary sessions twice a week), salon and children’s section.
Experience Located in the South of Goa, Alila Diwa is on the quieter stretch with some of the real gems including Gonsua and Colva beaches. Further south is the popular Palolem beach, which is still enjoyable. Leave the beach to explore some of Goa's favourite pastimes; Anjuna Flea Market held every Wednesday, the equally popular Saturday Night Market near Arpora or the Mapusa market in Mapusa, for a more local experience. Also visit, Dudhsagar Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India.
Location Alila Diwa is located in the village of Majorda on the South Coast of Goa. From the airport it is about 25-minute road transfer to the hotel.
Getting there Fly to Goa's Dabolim Airport (via Mumbai). From the airport Ahilya By the Sea is just 1-hour drive away.
When to go The best time to visit Goa is between late October and early April. The peak tourist season is from mid-December to mid-January, when the weather is near perfect, with daytime temperatures rarely going beyond 32°C. The monsoon season begins around June, when the hot temperatures of summer are cooled with an influx of clouds and rain. On average, the hottest months of the year are April and May.
