TUTC Camp Nubra Valley: Luxury Glamping in Ladakh

The Ultimate Travelling Camp is a mobile, eco-friendly tented accommodation, set in Diskit village in the Nubra Valley. The camps are set up in Ladakh during the summer months from mid-June to the end of September, providing luxurious accommodation for travellers who like to explore this remote trans-Himalayan plateau. The Diskit camp is nestled in between the jagged mountains across the high Khardung La (pass), north of Leh, in the enchanting Nubra Valley.

Overseen by the Diskit monastery, the Ultimate Travelling Camp has just five luxurious tents. The location is paramount; it lies near the beautiful and well preserved Diskit village, which is surrounded by the soaring Himalayas and sand dunes. The tents are elegant in style with comfortable beds draped in fine linen, antique, safari style furnishings and ensuite bathrooms with hot water. Skilled chefs serve multi-cuisine dishes in a dining tent with views of the surrounding landscape.

Excursions at the Ultimate Travelling Diskit Camp are organised by a team of local guides who will consult you for any specific requirements. There are a huge range of options available from visiting local villages and monasteries to walking down snow-fed rivers and streams to visiting farmlands. One day, visit a local school that started with just 5 students and now houses over 5,000 children, then drive towards the famous Siachen Glacier or go rafting in the glacier fed Shyok River.

Also, each tent has an outdoor wooden deck with comfortable chairs to relax and watch the world pass by. There is no swimming pool or spa but you will not need these services as there is much to see and do in the surrounds.

Experience Experiences organised at the Ultimate Travelling Camp, Diskit include visiting local villages and monasteries. This includes visiting a traditional local Kalon Farm where you will have traditional lunch. Other activities include driving towards the most northern road on the Saichen Glacier and then hike towards the hidden lake - Yarab Tso - which is one of the high altitude and sacred lakes in the Nubra Valley. Also visit Turtuk, Diskit Monastery or go white water rafting in the Shyok River.

Location Diskit is located about 5 hours from Leh, the capital of Ladakh.

Getting there Fly into Delhi, then take a 1-hour flight to Leh followed by a drive of around 4-hours. We suggest having a few nights in Delhi to start and possibly at the end, although you can connect through on your return with Jet Airways.

When to go Ladakh is open for tourists only during the summer months (May to September) as it is the only season when the passes open. The weather of Ladakh remains cold and chilly for most part of the year. Winters (October to May) are very cold, frost bites are common occurrence, making it a very inhospitable climate for visiting. During these months the whole area is covered with snow. Monsoon season experiences rainfall but due to the land slides, the area is closed. The temperature is cool and can go up to 33°C.
