The Mountbatten Lodge, Maga, Ranakpur, Rajasthan | Asian Geographical Adventures

Mountbatten Lodge is a colonial style luxury retreat, located close to Ranakpur and midway between Udaipur and Jodhpur in Rajasthan. Built with local trees and rocks the lodge is a vigorous nod to colonial times. Holiday in Rajasthan with everyday touring of stunning palaces, forts and temples can at times be overwhelming. Travelling off the beaten track, the Mountbatten Lodge provides an opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature and absorb the rural culture of Rajasthan.

Nestled in the heart of the Aravalli hills, the Mountbatten Lodge offers just four luxurious suites, all with private pools. Each are spacious in size and furnished colonial style hardwood furniture, comfortable beds draped in fine cottons sheets and equally spacious bathrooms with modern facilities. Delicious meals are prepared by experienced chefs with locally sourced ingredients and served in the dining rooms or al fresco under the 400-year-old Banyan tree.

Guests at the Mountbatten Lodge can visit Kumbhalgarh Fort and wildlife sanctuary, home to leopards, bear, deer and a host of eclectic bird life. This can be done on jeep, on foot, on the back of an elephant or on horseback. Later visit the Garasia tribal community, considered to be the third largest tribal group in Rajasthan. In the evening set out to the sunset point, which has a spectacular view of the Aravali Hills and celebrate the day with a sundowner.

Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. Although it rarely rains in Rajasthan, the temperature drops slightly during the Monsoon period from July to September, and humidity increases. Post-monsoon period from October to November is the official "tourist season" in Rajasthan that extends into the winter months from December to March when its warm during the day and chilly at night.
