Fort Seengh Sagar is a fortress hotel, set in the middle of a lake outside the village of Deogarh in rural Rajasthan. This small blissful hotel is fully staffed and equipped with all the necessities required for a comfortable stay for a group or a family. Situated in a peaceful location and approachable only by a boat or a small bridge, it forms a perfect respite for guests looking for a small property to hire exclusively while travelling between Jodhpur and Udaipur.
Surrounded by a moat, Fort Seengh Sagar houses just four large bedrooms. A sweeping terrace and turreted balconies offer spectacular views across the lake to the surrounding countryside. While the interiors are fit for a maharajah and queen: Indian rosewood beds, red-and-gold quilts, copper washbasins. Executive chef prepares regional dishes at the fort's Surya Mahal restaurant, though guests can also dine at the sister Deogarh Mahal hotel, where traditional Mewari cuisine is served.
Owned and managed by Colonel Randhir Singhji of Deogarh, Fort Seengh Sagar is a sister property of Deogarh Mahal where guests can make use of its swimming pool and other facilities. Local attractions include the Jain Temples of Ranakpur, Nathdwara and Eklingi and the Kumbhalgarh Fort. Train rides through a pretty ‘ghat’ section or picnics in the countryside, by the lake or in the hills can be easily arranged. This property is the perfect for a party venue or family holiday location.

Stay Fort Seengh Sagar offers just four spacious guestrooms. In principal, there are just three large rooms with the fourth being used as a sitting area that can be converted into an extra room. All are individually decorated in classic Rajasthani style with luxuriant fabrics and bold colours, comfortable beds and antique furniture. The four turrets of the fort, overlooking the lake are converted into sitting areas complete with a comfortable day bed draped with jewel-coloured silks.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at the Fort Seengh Sagar but there are no specific facilities available for children. Children may be accommodated in their parent’s bedroom for an extra charge and there is a babysitting service available on request.
Dine The in-house restaurant at the Fort Seengh Sagar offers a blend of traditional Rajasthani cuisine and continental dishes tailored to suit guest’s choice. Meals are prepared on wood-fired ovens and with fresh seasonal ingredients including home grown produce, local dairy products and homemade jams. Meals are served in the elegant dining room or al fresco on a large terrace. Guests can also dine at the sister Deogarh Mahal hotel, where traditional Mewari cuisine is served.
Relax There is a complimentary shuttle service that runs between Fort Seengh Sagar and sister hotel Deogarh Mahal where guests can make use of facilities such as swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Other facilities include table tennis, badminton, a gym, bar / TV room, two restaurants and a cafe.
Experience Deogarh is located between Udaipur and Jodhpur and is home to a celebrated heritage hotel and an authentic Rajasthani heritage experience. It is also known for its Deogarh School of painting, a breakaway from the major Mewar School of miniature painting that originated in Udaipur. Activities in the area include jeep safaris, cycling, horse riding and birdwatching. Fort Seengh Sagar can organise day trips to see the Jain Temples of Ranakpur, Eklingi and Kumbhalgarh Fort.
Location The Fort Seengh Sagar Hotel in Deogarh is located at a distance of 5kms from Deogarh. Deogarh is located about 160kms from Jodhpur (4-hours) and 135kms from Udaipur (3-hours)
Getting there The nearest airports are Udaipur (135km away) and Jodhpur (160km away). Both have internal flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and other Indian cities. The drive from the airport takes around 3-hours or 4-hours respectively.
When to go Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away from European winters. Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. Although it rarely rains in Rajasthan, the temperature drops slightly during the Monsoon period from July to September, and humidity increases. Post-monsoon period from October to November is the official "tourist season" in Rajasthan that extends into the winter months from December to March when its warm during the day and chilly at night.
