Lakshman Sagar, Raipur, Rajasthan | Luxury Holidays in India | AsianGeographicalAdventures.com

Lakshman Sagar is spread over thirty two acres along a man-made lake. It is made up of twelve cottages all designed in keeping with the environment and nestled in the natural topography of the land. Influenced by the indigenous Rajasthani architecture, the cottages have been re-interpreted in sustainable design using locally sourced products like wood, stone and mud. What's more with a strong influence from the neighbouring village culture and life, all the elements found in the rooms have a story to tell.

The cuisine served at Lakshman Sagar is the traditional cuisine of the area and includes special traditional hunting recipes of the Raipur Family. All the ingredients are locally grown or sourced. The staff will enquire into your preferences on arrival and tailor the menus to your personal tastes. The idea is to serve an authentic experience of rural Marwar and ensuring that the service is entirely personalised. The guests can enjoy private dining experiences, group campfire meals and even get involved in live cooking demonstrations.

Lakshman Sagar has been celebrated as the ultimate honeymoon destination the rooms are very private, and the only things you will hear during the day are the wildlife. The pool is a single boulder with the pool cut into the middle of it. For the more adventurous guest it is a great place to head to if you are looking for an authentic and rural Rajasthani experience. You can get involved in activities such as liquor tasting, goat herding, and nature walks. Explore the local culture and wildlife with a guide from the property.

Stay Laskhman Sagar features just 12 cottages, divided into two clusters, spread on either side of the lake. All cottages are spacious in size and made of mud and stone with a wood-and-thatch roof. Interiors are decorated in tasteful contemporary and traditional Rajasthani style with splashes of brightly coloured cushions. Comfortable beds are draped in fine cotton sheets and seating areas open out onto a private splash pool overlooking the lake.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Lakshman Sagar but there are no specific facilities available for children. Babysitting service can be arranged on request.

Dine The inhouse restaurant at the Lakshman Sagar serves traditional regional cuisine and includes special hunting recipes of the Raipur Family. Meals are served on the open-air Mardana terrace overlooking the lake, in the pretty little Zanana dining rooms, or privately if you prefer. Although its hunting recipes are unique but the vegetarian thali with a range of tasty dishes is exceptional.

Relax Facilities at the Lakshman Sagar include a single rock cut swimming pool and a man-made private lake with lounge decks to relax. There is also a small library and a rooftop terrace with comfortable seating. Those interested in gardening can volunteer in the resort’s vegetable garden or take a leisurely stroll around the surrounding village and enjoy local hospitality. For ultimate relaxation yoga classes, meditation and massage at Sukh Sagar Spa can be arranged.

Experience Lakshman Sagar is located between Marwar (Jodhpur region) known for its master craftsmen; ceramics, weavers and block printers and Mewar (Udaipur region) once ruled by the Rajputs, known for its regal festivals. Experiencing the festivals will of course depend on the time of your travel but you can always shop for handicrafts. Alternatively, take guided nature walks and excursions to nearby villages and explore ancient fort ruins.

Location Situated approximately two hours from Ajmer, Lakshman Sagar lies 10 kilometers off NH-14 en-route to Jodhpur via Pali. It is strategically located in the centre of the tourist circuit in the Marwar and Mewar region of Rajasthan.

Getting there The closest commercial airport, Jodhpur, is about 2.5-hours away, while Haripur railway station is only 3kms away.

When to go Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away from European winters. Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. Although it rarely rains in Rajasthan, the temperature drops slightly during the Monsoon period from July to September, and humidity increases. Post-monsoon period from October to November is the official "tourist season" in Rajasthan that extends into the winter months from December to March when its warm during the day and chilly at night.
