Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Goa is a charming, colonial-style retreat, set in 56 acres of landscaped lawns and tropical gardens along a 700-metre stretch of Benaulim beach. The hotel is cleverly split between the main block containing 31 sea view rooms and a number of villas located in the gardens, some with private pools. Of these, the two-bedroom villas are ideal to house larger families and with facilities such as a dedicated Kids' Club, it makes for a perfect romantic or family holiday.

Spread out in two wings, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa in Goa, has 140 rooms and suites. Goan and Portuguese in style, these are broadly grouped in rooms with sea or garden views with private verandas and a select range of suites and villas that come with private pools. These are coupled with old-world architecture, flower-lined patios, sunshine-laden atrium and lounge areas, perfect for relaxing or enjoying a day at the beach.

There’s plenty of choice when it comes to dining at the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Goa. You could dine at casual all-day Eugenia restaurant serving authentic Indian delicacies to formal fine-dining restaurant run by the legendary Goan Chef Miguel Arcanjo. Allegria serves coastal and authentic Goan cuisine and Lobster Shack serves very good seafood on the beach. For relaxation there is a swimming pool, Jiva Spa with a range of therapies, tennis courts and an array of water sports.

Stay Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Goa has a total of 140 rooms and suites. Each room within a four-room villa is spacious in size (starting at 57 sqm) and sophistically decorated in an elegant blend of Goan and Portuguese style. All have private balconies overlooking the sea or the gardens, and the marble-clad bathrooms are equipped with tubs and walk-in showers. In addition, there are eight sea-facing suites and two Presidential Suites, some with two bedrooms and private plunge pools.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Taj Exotica, Goa. Entertainment for children include a Tex Kids Club, with a dedicated children's pool complete with mini water slide, plus bikes for hire, two pool tables, and a putting green. Babysitting service can be arranged, on request.

Dine Guests at Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Goa have a choice of five restaurants. These range from Eugenia serving authentic Indian delicacies and Miguel Arcanjo offering an elaborate menu inspired from Mediterranean cuisine to the fine-dining Alegria restaurant where Goan specialities and Portuguese dishes are served. Down on the beach is the much-admired Lobster Shack with an impressive array of wines, while Adega Camoens, the exotic lounge bar is perfect for a romantic evening.

Relax Located along the Benaulim Beach, the Taj Exotica, Goa enjoys spacious grounds and ample facilities. For relaxation there is a large swimming pool shaded by palm trees, but for total relaxation head for the award-winning Jiva Spa and request a Vishram aromatherapy massage in a private pavilion by the Arabian Sea. Other facilities include a fitness centre and a jogging track, yoga and meditation, and for the active there’s archery, tennis, badminton, a cricket pitch and a nine-hole golf course.

Experience Situated in the southern belt of Goa, guests at Taj Exotica Resort & Spa can enjoy the Colva and Cavelossim beaches known for their undeveloped beauty and peaceful atmosphere. For a cultural experience head north to Panaji or old Goa that resembles the Indo-Portuguese period through its churches and visit the Catholic Basilica de Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also visit the Olive Ridley Turtle Nesting area or Sahakari Spice Farm, for a buffet lunch with a cashew feni drink.

Getting there Fly to Goa's Dabolim Airport (via Mumbai), followed by 45-minute road transfer to Taj Exotica Goa.

When to go The best time to visit Goa is between late October and early April. The peak tourist season is from mid-December to mid-January, when the weather is near perfect, with daytime temperatures rarely going beyond 32°C. The monsoon season begins around June, when the hot temperatures of summer are cooled with an influx of clouds and rain. On average, the hottest months of the year are April and May.
