The Trident Gurgaon | Luxury Holidays in India | AsianGeographicalAdventures.com

The Trident Gurgaon is an urban retreat, set in the up and coming business and shopping district of Gurgaon, a satellite city southwest of Delhi. Designed by Thai architect, Lek Bunag, it is a contemporary take on Moghul architecture, incorporating the pale, sandstone dome-shaped pavilion style with huge arches and French doors. Surrounding the structure are 7-acres of landscape gardens with emerald green and cobalt blue, with mainly white flowers of the frangipani tree.

Housed within the beige dome-like traditional exterior are 136 contemporary rooms and suites. All rooms have a soothing décor and simple yet elegant furnishings as well as lovely views of the garden or pool. Three restaurants offer a choice of multi-cuisine ranging from Indian and Italian to Pan-Asian and Japanese. There is a spectacularly designed bar with dramatic central stem, another impressive space where you can try cocktails or sample something from the international wine list.

Surrounding the Trident Gurgaon are tranquil gardens in which guests can escape from the hectic city. A series of large courtyards create a sense of enclosure, and importantly shade when walking between the main buildings. For deeper relaxation visit the Trident spa set in stunning surroundings that offers treatments based on Aromatherapy, Ayurveda and Western techniques. The hotel is a great option for those on business or on a short stay en-route to another destination in India.

In New Delhi area are the famous India Gate, and Rashtrapati Bhawan, designed by Lutyens. For shopping visit Khan Market or South Extension.

Getting there Fly into Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Trident is then a 20-minute transfer.

When to go The best time to travel to India is between September and March, when the weather is most pleasant. Summer starts in April and by June, it becomes very hot. By July there is the south-west monsoon, which brings heavy rains to the west coast. Although the word "monsoon" often brings to mind images of torrential floods and landslides, it is not a bad time to travel. The downpour tends to come and go quickly, leaving behind a clean, glistening landscape.
