The Leela Kovalam Beach is one of the largest luxury beach resorts near Trivandrum, set on a clifftop in Kovalam, overlooking the Arabian Sea. The property is near two long beaches, ideal for those looking for some beach time. Guests have access to the hotel’s small but private beach, which provides protected bathing with a shower facility and towels. You can also walk down to the Samudra beach or the famous, crescent-shaped, Light House Beach with shops and restaurants.
Built on a dramatic cliff top location, most rooms at The Leela Kovalam Beach have beautiful views over the sea. The suites are arranged in three wings; the Deluxe Club Wing offers excellent sea view rooms, located high up with a separate club lounge, ocean rim infinity swimming pool and contemporary designed rooms. The Beach View Wing offers sea-facing rooms designed in an ethnic Keralan theme while the Pavilion Wing has forty-two rooms and is located on the ground level.
Facilities at the Leela Kovalam Beach include a choice of two restaurants; the main restaurant with a wood-fire pizza oven and buffet and a Beach Restaurant. There is also a bar offering excellent views and a Pool lounge offering snacks. For relaxation there is a delightful swimming pool which opens out from the lobby on the top floor with exceptional sea views and a spa offering Ayurvedic and wellness treatments. For active guest, there are range of activities including tennis and yoga.

Stay The Leela Kovalam Beach offers 183 rooms and suites. Standard Rooms start at 44 sqm and come with private sundecks with either beach or garden views. The Garden View Pavilion rooms come with their own secluded pool and lawns. For more space and special privileges book the Club suites, all of which enjoy ocean views and the mod-cons. There is also a two-level suite featuring a living room and private balcony on one floor and an opulent bedroom on the next with sea views.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at the Leela Kovalam Beach resort. There is a kids club with a splash pool and babysitting service can be arranged, on request.
Dine There are two restaurants at the Leela Kovalam Beach. The Terrace is a multi-cuisine restaurant offering a range of Indian, Asia and European dishes and for something more oriental, there is The Tides located on the beach, which offers freshly-caught seafood grilled to your specification. The roof-top Sky Bar is a popular destination at sunset where you can enjoy tapas with a wide variety of drinks and for Club guests, there is The Café offering all-day dining and drinks.
Relax Facilities at The Leela Kovalam Beach include an exclusive Ayurveda and wellness Spa that spreads over 740 sqm with panoramic view of the Arabian Sea. Guests can choose from a host of therapies including Aromatherapies, Swedish massage, hot-stone massage and reflexology. Treatment packages also include a Yoga Awareness Programme. In addition, there is a full-service fitness centre, tennis and badminton courts, Mahon pool as well as Club Pool and Spa.
Experience Kovalam is a small coastal town in the southern part of Kerala, known for its beautiful beaches lined with palm trees and as a surfing destination. At the southern end of the Leela Kovalam Beach is a striped lighthouse which has a viewing platform and host of restaurants offering fish based local dishes. Nearby is Padmanabhaswamy Temple (open only to Hindus) and the adjacent Maharajas Palace both worth visiting with a tour guide to understand its history and culture.

Getting there Fly to Trivandrum International Airport. The Leela Kempinski is a 40-minute drive from the airport.
When to go Isolated from much of India by the Western Ghats, the climate of Kerala & Karnataka is tropical. The best time to visit is from January through to April. Summer is hot and humid; the monsoon season arrives in early June and lasts till August. While September can be dry and humid. There can be a little rain in October and November, cooling off around December and lasting until February.
