Baghvan Jungle Lodge, managed by Taj Hotels is a safari lodge near Pench National Park. Located on the edge of the tiger reserve, adjacent to a stream and amongst lush forest, the intimate Baghvan Pench Jungle Lodge, has just 12 standalone suites with beautifully done-up interiors. Each suite is a set of rooms; a bedroom with a four-poster bed and an adjoining verandah. Beyond was a great surprise; an open-air shower, a luxurious amenity especially in the Indian summer.
Steps lead up to another surprise at the Baghvan Jungle Lodge. On the rooftop, above the bathroom was an open-air machaan! But this is no ordinary raised observation platform in a forest, it had beds for an afternoon snooze in the cool jungle air and for the adventurous, the staff would do a turn down service to give you Rudyard Kipling’s "The Jungle Book" experience.
The main bungalow at the Baghvan Jungle Lodge has a lounge area where guests relax after an interesting game drive and talk about their discoveries or finds, whilst being served high tea, or later an assorted collection of drinks as the sun sets. Meals are served indoors or al fresco around a bon fire (when cold) and the range and variety of the food is scintillating. Facilities include an inviting swimming pool, safari shop and a library.

Wildlife in the reserve include spotted and sambhur deer, nilgai, predators including jackals and wild dogs, as well as rich birdlife. Most have high inspirations of seeing a tiger or a leopard in a world that is continuously reducing their living space. After meals and siesta in the camp, we return for afternoon game drive. Those who get lucky to see a tiger or a leopard, share stories around a campfire at dinner.
