Taj Baghvan Lodge

Baghvan Jungle Lodge, managed by Taj Hotels is a safari lodge near Pench National Park. Located on the edge of the tiger reserve, adjacent to a stream and amongst lush forest, the intimate Baghvan Pench Jungle Lodge, has just 12 standalone suites with beautifully done-up interiors. Each suite is a set of rooms; a bedroom with a four-poster bed and an adjoining verandah. Beyond was a great surprise; an open-air shower, a luxurious amenity especially in the Indian summer.

Steps lead up to another surprise at the Baghvan Jungle Lodge. On the rooftop, above the bathroom was an open-air machaan! But this is no ordinary raised observation platform in a forest, it had beds for an afternoon snooze in the cool jungle air and for the adventurous, the staff would do a turn down service to give you Rudyard Kipling’s "The Jungle Book" experience.

The main bungalow at the Baghvan Jungle Lodge has a lounge area where guests relax after an interesting game drive and talk about their discoveries or finds, whilst being served high tea, or later an assorted collection of drinks as the sun sets. Meals are served indoors or al fresco around a bon fire (when cold) and the range and variety of the food is scintillating. Facilities include an inviting swimming pool, safari shop and a library.

Stay Baghvan Jungle Lodge has just 12 spacious bungalows. These stand-alone suites have a contemporary bungalow feel with a classic 50's ambience. The spacious suites comprise two inter-linked buildings. A covered inter-leading link takes guests to generously proportioned bathrooms with twin hand basins, separate w.c, and indoor and outdoor showers. Stairs lead up to a machan (a covered rooftop platform) which is perfect for romantic sleepouts, complete with mosquito net, overhead fan and hookah pipes.

ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at the Baghvan Jungle Lodge. Although there are no specific facilities available for young children, the camp has specially trained staff to educate 6-12 kids about wildlife and its preservation. Babysitting can be arranged, on request.

Dine At Baghvan Jungle Lodge, guests delight in the delicious flavours of Central India. Different dishes are introduced at each meal, offering a range of mouth-watering dining experiences. Dinners are a true highlight, with an abundance of flavours and textures on offer. You can also learn how to prepare traditional dishes – recipes and spices provided! After dinner, guests indulge in decadent desserts or cheese platters, served with tea, coffee or cognac.

Relax Facilities at the lodge include a library, safari shop, swimming pool and spa offering treatments based on millennia-old Indian healing and massage techniques, using natural ingredients. Complimentary activities include game drives, foot safaris in the Nullah, birdwatching from the pool deck, village visits and elephant safaris.

Safari The safari routine at the Baghvan Jungle Lodge begins with a morning game drive in a 3-tiered jeep. Wildlife in the reserve include spotted and sambhur deer, nilgai, predators including jackals and wild dogs, as well as rich birdlife. Most have high inspirations of seeing a tiger or a leopard in a world that is continuously reducing their living space. After meals and siesta in the camp, we return for afternoon game drive. Those who get lucky to see a tiger or a leopard, share stories around a campfire at dinner.
