Alsisar Mahal is a luxury heritage hotel, set in an old fort in the village of Alsisar in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. Once the residence of the Thakurs of Alsisar, this beautiful mansion boasts of a glorious past and stunning architecture. Now fully renovated with modern facilities, it offers guests a lovely experience in princely living. Alsisar is the traditional home of Marwari traders and serves as a perfect base from which to explore the nearby, renowned painted Havelis (merchant houses).
Set within an old fort, Alsisar Mahal has 51 spacious rooms and suites, all retaining their old regal allure and charm. Expect antique furniture, intricately carved canopy beds, large glass windows and beautiful printed drapes with traditional Rajasthan motifs. Grand chandeliers, old family portraits and period furniture add to the property's regal feel. Restaurants with majestic architecture serve a variety of cuisine both indoors and al fresco in the courtyard.
Alsisar is home to a number of painted havelis (or merchant houses) many of which remain family-owned. Alsisar Mahal staff can organise heritage tour to see these private houses, especially their beautiful inner courtyards which have murals depicting daily life and notable events. Other historical sites include temples, forts and the rainwater harvesting systems which are essential to this region. For relaxation, there is a bar, cafe and a swimming pool and expansive verandas with spaces to relax.
Amenities
Stay Alsisar Mahal features 51 luxurious rooms. All are majestically designed with traditional Rajasthani style arched windows, antique furniture, intricate art work and regal furnishing. Rooms have hand-painted walls and ceilings, marble floors, beautifully carved four-poster bed and doors and alcoves complete with original artwork, creating royal Rajasthani charm and imperial lifestyle. Modern amenities include air-conditioning and bathrooms feature shower and bath tubs.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Alsisar Mahal but there are no specific facilities available. Babysitting can be arranged upon request.
Dine The wide range of fine restaurants at the Alsisar Mahal, serve traditional Rajasthani, Indian and international cuisine both indoors and al fresco in the spectacular courtyard. On the top floor is Badal Mahal or Cloud Palace with both indoor and roof-top dining space. Experience Regal dining in the main dining hall, embellished with intricate gold work and time-honoured paintings of the medieval heroes or experience their wrath in the Dungeon Bar and Lounge with a drink.
Relax Facilities at Alsisar Mahal include an open-air pool and a spa offering a range of therapies. There is also a billiard room and a reading café. Take morning and evening leisure walks in the expansive serene courtyards and gardens that lend a distinctive character to the property as well as romance and grandeur to its dignified era.
Experience The Shekhawati region is known for its old castles and monuments and Alsisar Mahal forms a great base from which to explore this mystified town. Influenced by the Persians, Jaipur, and Mughal Schools of painting, Shekhawati frescoes are displayed throughout on the walls of Alsisar. There is so much to see here, that it’s often called an open art gallery that vividly showcases its old-era grandeur and eventful times of Shekhawati region.
Location Alsisar Mahal is located near Madawa, in the Shekhawati region, which lies inside the triangle made by the Bikaner, Jaipur and Delhi. It is a mini desert region of north Rajasthan.
Getting there Fly to Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. Alsisar Mahal is a 4-hour drive from Delhi.
When to go Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away from European winters. Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. Although it rarely rains in Rajasthan, the temperature drops slightly during the Monsoon period from July to September, and humidity increases. Post-monsoon period from October to November is the official "tourist season" in Rajasthan that extends into the winter months from December to March when its warm during the day and chilly at night.
