Khem Villas is a wilderness camp, set on the edge of the Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan. At its heart is the colonial-style white house, surrounded by lush gardens, lakes and grasslands. These were hand-planted by the owners Goverdhan and Usha years ago and are now a flourishing natural habitat for myriad wildlife. This small and intimate resort dedicated to its sustainable ethos is a perfect ecological reserve for those who love nature, wildlife and birdwatching.
Situated just ten minutes’ drive from the gates of Ranthambore National Park, Khem Villas offers 17 rooms. These are grouped in spacious luxury cottages with a private courtyard, traditional tents with a private veranda and standard rooms housed in the main building of the hotel. Vegetarian home cooked meals are prepared with fresh ingredients from their own organic garden and served in the dining room or al fresco in the lawns or veranda.
Facilities at Khem Villas include a plunge pool and a small spa. Daily game drives to the park and excursions to neighbouring villages can be easily arranged. Interesting sites include the Ranthambore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Kachida Valley, which consists of many rocky outcrops and low hills. The area is also known for various lakes including Rajbagh Talao, the most beautiful of three lakes and Padam Talao, at the edge of which is a beautiful Jogi Mahal.
