Trident Agra: Luxury Stay Near the Taj Mahal

Trident Agra is a charming five-star hotel, located in extensive grounds in a quiet neighbourhood, just over a mile from the Taj Mahal. Set on two floors around a pretty garden with flower beds, lawns and a large pool, the Trident offers a peaceful refuge from the noise and chaotic Agra city. The lobby, possibly the most inviting part of the hotel, is furnished with bright yellow chairs, dark-wood accents, and modern chandeliers made of glass tubes are infused with sunlight.

Set amongst Mughal style gardens, courtyards and architecture, the Trident Agra has 135 rooms and suites, surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens. All have good quality modern furnishings with comfortable beds draped in fine linen changed daily. Bathrooms in the standard Garden View rooms are on the small side but have been renovated fairly recently and have state-of-the-art showers over baths, but large picture windows fill the rooms with refreshing views of the courtyard and gardens.

The two restaurants at the Trident Agra offer a range of Indian and international cuisine. These include classic Rajasthani curries, south Indian dishes like uttapam, idlis and dosas for breakfast and proper Hyderabadi clay-pot biryanis, best tried for dinner as well as an extensive Italian menu including pizza from the wood fired oven. Taj Mahal is just a mile away, after which you can unwind in the luxurious pool or enjoy a relaxing massage at the Trident Spa.

Experience The highlights of staying and sightseeing in Agra is of course the iconic Taj Mahal, the fabled monument to love. Guests at the Trident Agra have options to also enjoy a plethora of other fascinating attractions in and around the city. These include Agra Red Fort, the fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's Mausoleum at Sikandra, and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, a bird watcher’s paradise. Agra is also famous for soft-stone inlay and zardori-embroidered fabrics and carpets.

Location  Trident is located in Agra.

Getting there It is 10 minutes from the Taj Mahal and 35 minutes drive from Agra's Kheria Airport. The train station is a 20 minute drive.

When to go The best time to travel to India is between September and March, when the weather is most pleasant. Summer starts in April and by June, it becomes very hot. By July there is the south-west monsoon, which brings heavy rains to the west coast. Although the word "monsoon" often brings to mind images of torrential floods and landslides, it is not a bad time to travel. The downpour tends to come and go quickly, leaving behind a clean, glistening landscape.
