The Fern Gir Forest Resort: Luxury Stay in Gujarat

The Fern Gir Forest Resort is our favourite resort when visiting Gir National Park in Gujarat in India. Located adjacent to the park and perched on the banks of Hiran River, the hotel is an ideal gateway to the vast wilderness that is home to over 500 Asiatic lions and 300 leopards. The wide variety of wildlife within the park offers visitors an exceptionally diverse and hugely rewarding experience. There are twice daily game drives in the park which is open from mid-October until mid-June.

Set close to the entrance of Gir National Park, the Fern Gir Forest Resort has just 40 comfortable rooms. The lead in Fern Tents are fully air-conditioned and come with a queen bed, all the mod-cons and a small sit-out. Winter Green Cottages, set on two floors have a balcony or a veranda. The freestanding Fern Villas enjoy a private garden to the rear and a small veranda to the front. While the huge Hazel Suite has a private veranda with superb views over the Hiran River.

There are two restaurants at the Fern Gir Forest Resort serving multi-cuisine menu. Foodies will love the Banyan Tree; the main restaurant which serves delicious Gujarati cuisine, which is primarily vegetarian but unique in taste. Another restaurant with a River View serve Italian fare is perfect for watching sunsets. For relaxation there is a spa and small gymnasium, as well as a large pool to cool off after your return from daily game drives.
