Alila Fort Bishangarh is a luxury, boutique hotel, set atop a granite hill in the small village of Bishangarh near Jaipur. Built inside the 230-year-old fort, this beautiful, raw old heritage property has undergone a painstaking seven-year restoration project. Polished anew, the powerful edifice, displays an unornamented façade with some turrets and windows painted in the original red-ochre colour that links it back to its original style. All rooms are spacious with large traditional Rajasthani style arched windows used primarily in palaces and regal in style. The décor is clean and uncluttered with ancient metal ‘jaalis’ screens, antique brass artefacts and block printed fabrics. Stay Alila Fort Bishangarh has 59 luxurious suites grouped in four categories; Heritage, Royal, Grand, and Regal. Each have a unique layout, some split-level, others with low ceilings. However, all share a tasteful design mix of white marble with grey upholstery, dark-wood furniture and punches of colour in cushions and throws. Some rooms have windows built in the jharokha style, plush day beds and expansive bathrooms with bathtubs offering spectacular views over the Arvavali mountains.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome at Alila Fort Bishangarh. The Play Alila, Kids’ Club has separate areas for teenagers and toddlers. The hotel staff is well trained for keeping the kids engaged and provide a learning experience.
Dine There are four restaurants at the Alila Fort Bishangarh to choose from including Amarsar, once the royal quarters of kings, now offering age-old traditional recipes inspired by the Silk Route. Nazaara, an outdoor dining terrace offers hunter cuisine with live sandpit cooking and smoked meats. Madhuveni offers a range of spirits paired with smoked delights and cocktails with tapas, and down the hill is the boutique poolside Haveli restaurant offering a taste of Mediterranean cuisine.
Relax For relaxation there is Alila Spa, carved out between granite rocks in the old dungeon of Fort Bishangarh, that provides atmospheric setting for relaxation. The extensive arena combines both Ayurveda and Eurasian therapy techniques, using a special selection of natural, active ingredients. There is also a library, an open-air terrace and down the hill is a labyrinth of spaces to chill, including a pool, bar, fitness centre and luxurious banquet lawns.
Experience Activities at Alila Fort Bisangarh include experiencing local life, culture and craft traditions of Bishangarh village. Trekking or a camel safari into the windswept dunes of the Aravalli hills or jeep safari to the small hillside village of Amarsar to see local temples.
