Wilpattu Safari Camp is a spacious boutique camp, set on the outskirts of Wilpattu National Park, northwest of Sri Lanka. Founded by a team of experienced wildlife photographers and conservationists, the Camp is deliberately kept small to ensure low impact on nature and noise, as well as be able to provide personalised attention to each guest. The fascinating games drives with local experts provide an opportunity to spot unique species of birds and other elusive animals.
Spread across a five-acre patch of forest, Wilpattu Safari Camp has just four tents, ensuring that no more than 8 people are staying at any one time. Eco-friendly in nature, the camp is fitted with solar power that heats the water, runs pedestal fans and provides charge to your camera batteries and Wi-Fi. Delicious meals are based on seasonal produce sourced from its own organic gardens and served in communal dining area or al fresco around a camp fire.
Daily routine at the Wilpattu Safari Camp begins with a hot cuppa at the 5 am wake-up call. Game drives into the Wilpattu National Park are on modified Toyota Land cruiser, accompanied with an expert naturalist. Wildlife generally seen include sloth bear, jackal, wild boar, deer, an array of different bird species and sometimes even an elusive leopard. Nearby interesting sites include Kalpitiya Peninsula, where you can see spinner dolphins between November and April.
