Aditya Resort, South Coast | Luxury Resort in Sri Lanka | Asian Geographical Adventures

Aditya is a beachfront ethnic-chic boutique hotel, set between Galle and Hikkaduwa in southwest Sri Lanka. The hotel overlooks Rathgama Beach, a salmon-orange spray of sand popular with the local crowd at sunset. The beach is a little rough for swimming but you can bathe in the ocean a few miles north at Hikkaduwa, a sprawling beach resort with a surfing vibe whose wide sands are dotted with café-style restaurants, dive outfits and late-night bars.

Accommodation at the Aditya hotel comprises of just 16 spacious suites. All are individual in outlook and design, with garden or sea views and unique décor. Honeymooners will love the two-storey Soorya penthouse suite, complete with a sprawling terrace but those looking for more space can book the newly available two-bedroom villas. Spread across two floors, each of these two villas comprises two suites with a private lap pool and outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Dining at the Aditya is a real draw especially the excellent Sri Lankan cooking. The resident master chef will prepare what you want, when you want, and serve it wherever you chose on the premises. You can do as much or as little you want to do here. Start with water sports, go scuba diving, snorkelling or whale watching between November and April. Then return and relax by the pool or on the beach, sunset watching, and enjoying therapeutic treatments at the spa.

Location Located on the South Coast just outside of Galle.

Getting there Fly to Colombo Airport from London and a 3 hour drive to the South Coast.

When to go Sri Lanka is a year-round destination with consistently warm temperatures and lots of sunshine. There are two monsoon seasons but they only bring rain to the west and south-west coasts from May to September; and the east coast and northern region between October and February. The rest of the year is sunny and dry but the months of December to April are probably the best time to visit. Colombo and the low-lying coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C.
