Palagama Beach: Secluded Beachfront Paradise in Sri Lanka

Palagama Beach is a village-style beach resort, set on the Kalpitiya peninsula, North West coast of Sri Lanka. A finger of land extending out into the Indian Ocean from halfway up Sri Lanka's west coast, the region is mostly home to fishermen, but its sparsely beautiful beaches are drawing a growing crowd in search of some of the world's best kite-surfing between May and October. Situated along its coast, Palagama enjoys both fine beaches and a perfect spot for kite surfing.

Set like a small village, the dreamy Palagama Beach Resort has 16 Sri Lankan style cabanas and villas. Inspired by local villages, it was carefully set – backed by a tropical forest and fronting the Indian Ocean – using natural materials with a contemporary edge to create an authentic yet comfortable dwellings. There is a large fresh water infinity pool that blends beautifully with the horizon and chilled out bar that often announces an ‘Happy Hour’.

The Palagama Beach resort's surroundings are perfect for nature lovers. There are seasonal dolphin and whale excursions available, as well as scuba-diving and snorkelling on the Bar Reef at the northern tip of the Kalpitiya peninsula. The peninsula is also a great spot for Windsurfers in the 'off season' from May to October. Guests interested in wildlife can take game drives at Wilpattu National Park and go biking through the flat, arid local countryside to see churches and forts.
