Saman Villas: Luxury Beachfront Resort in Sri Lanka

Saman Villas is one of most luxurious small hotels in Bentota, Sri Lanka. Set upon a rocky outcrop between two gold-sand beaches, it has 27 suites on the ground and first floor, each providing breathtaking sea views. The hotel facilities include, dining and living areas and infinity-edge pool, all designed to maximize its stunning location and the amazing sunsets.

The Saman Villas resort’s spectacular location makes it a favourite for honeymooners and romantics. It is also an excellent choice for couples seeking total relaxation, beach resort facilities, luxurious suites and wonderful views. Take a dip in the hotel’s infinity pool which overlooks the Indian Ocean, visit local fishing villages and wander for miles along the unspoilt and uncrowded beaches.

One of the highlights of staying at Saman Villas is that you can dine wherever you wish; whether it be in the garden of your own villa, by the beautiful hotel swimming pool or on the beach. As the Sun began to set, we were led to our table, set on a wooden platform on the rocks with the waves almost lapping at our feet. Lanterns were lit in a dozen places around. As the meal was served, a musician sat at a distance playing a flute and the whole atmosphere was just ethereal!

Getting There There are direct (10-hour 45-minute) flights to Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. It takes 45 minutes by helicopter from the International airport and 90 minutes from Colombo by road via expressway to Saman Villas.

When to go The best time to visit Sri Lanka is between December and April when it’s drier and the climate is cooler. It’s also the peak time for whale-watching near Bentota where blue and sperm whales can be seen. From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s southwestern coast and the cultural triangle. However, the hill country around Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains and Bandarawela remains cooler. Rains may also occur between September and November.
