Colombo Court is an urban boutique hotel, set in the heart of Sri Lankan capital, Colombo. Sunela Jaywardene, the Sri Lankan designer has ensured that contemporary design meets an environmental conscience. Interior design is punctuated with metal art installations and interesting pieces of art including a 'tree' made up of old bicycles. The location is fairly central to most of Colombo’s sights; such as the National Museum, Gangaramaya Temple and prominent art galleries.
Housed within a series of converted buildings, Colombo Court has just 32 Rooms and Suites. The décor in the bedrooms is simplistic and uncluttered, some with wooden floors and period style furniture, but all have spacious bathrooms with bath and a shower. Two restaurants, headed by talented Chefs serve an innovative menu infused with flavours of the east and the west. The Scarlet Room offers contemporary Italian cuisine while the rooftop Cloud Café offers light bites.
For relaxation, Colombo Court Hotel has a lovely swimming pool with sun loungers, a separate whirlpool tub and a spa offering Balinese massages. There’s a generous library filled with books and magazines and a small business centre with iMac. Please note, the hotel is located close to Colombo’s main Duplication Road, and the noise impacts slightly on its tranquillity. But it also attracts a cosmopolitan crowd from around the city, to its classy Loft Lounge bar.
