Six Senses Con Dao – Eco-Luxury Resort in Vietnam

Six Senses Con Dao in Vietnam is located on Con Son island in the Con Dao Archipelago, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The archipelago is steeped in history and more recently known for its status as a national park. The Con Son has all the requisite castaway charm for an island retreat within its national park. So, don’t be surprised if you are greeted by monkeys on your short drive from the airport to the Six Senses Resort.

The Six Senses Con Dao Resort is located on a pristine mile-long white beach, with 50 luxury wooden villas that blend into the surrounding lush forest. The resort offers several different villa layouts to suit for couples and families, each with its own private infinity pool and a butler assigned to guests. Each villa has seating areas, outdoor shower, vast bathrooms and living areas with open-air spaces looking out over the South China Sea.

The dining options at the Six Senses Con Dao Resort include two restaurants and a deli that are focused around seafood and international cuisine. For authentic taste of local cuisine head to Vietnamese by the Market. There is also a bar, large swimming pool, a modern gym and a holistic Six Senses Spa. Activities include to suit the whole family, ranging from scuba-diving to cooking classes. Cultural tours can be arranged to nearby villages or town to visit its local historical museum.

Stay Six Senses Con Dao Resort has 50 Villas. Arranged in two rows looking towards the ocean, the airy villas are understated and chic with crisp white furnishings. The decor is neutral to match the wooden walls; linen sofas with a splash of bright cushions, and billowing white mosquito nets around the vast beds. Each villa boasts an open-style bathroom with outdoor shower, a private infinity pool, with a choice of styles from single level to duplex, up to four bedrooms.

ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at Six Senses Con Dao. All villas are spacious and range approx. 200 sqm to about 670 sqm, providing enough space for families. Each villa comes with its own pool and are set on the sandy beach. Babysitting service can be arranged, if requested.

Dine The Six Senses Con Dao has three restaurants and various options for ‘destination dining’ around the resort. The Vietnamese, ‘By the Market’, serves summer rolls, phos and Asian salads. Down on the shore ‘By the Beach’, is the resort’s main restaurant. Try the Vietnamese Hot Pot. Spend ‘An Evening by the Cellar’, which was a 4-course meal with wine pairings or an ‘The Elephant Bar’ which has an amazing selection of cocktails to choose from. Help yourself to unlimited scoops at the high street ice-cream store.

Relax The Lo Voi mountains loom behind the award-winning Six Senses, Con Dao Spa, which offers wide range therapeutic treatments. If in doubt, ask the therapists who can advise and guide you through the options of body and beauty care and herbal remedies. There are three outdoor treatment salas, four indoor treatment rooms, a Thai therapy room, a yoga and meditation area and a juice bar.

Experience Con Dai island is only recently developed for tourism, being for a long time a place to lock out prisoners opposed to the various regimes. But Six Senses Con Dao offers many activities including diving to explore the amazing variety of underwater life. In addition, there is surfing, rainforest hiking, island hopping, yoga and cooking classes and even outdoor movie screenings. We took the snorkelling and turtles watching tour which was worth it, and we strongly recommend it.

Location Six Senses Con Dao in Vietnam is located on Con Son island in the Con Dao Archipelago, off the south-east coast of mainland. The resort is situated on the largest island in the archipelago, Con Son.

Getting There Take an international flight to Ho Chi Minh City’s Tat Son Nhat International Airport (SGN). From here, there is a 45-minute commercial flight or you can take a chartered plane to nearby Co Ong regional airport (VCS) for transfer to the resort. Distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao is around 230 kilometres or 145 miles.

When to go The best time to visit Vietnam is from November to March, when it is warm and dry in the South but begins to get cooler as you travel north of Nha Trang. From April or May to October, summer monsoon brings hot, humid weather except in the mountains up north. A slight break in monsoon during July and August makes it the second-high season in the South but unpredictable typhoons can hit central and northern Vietnam. May, June and September are usually the quietest months.
