Banyan Tree Lang Co – Luxury Resort in Central Vietnam

Banyan Tree Lang Co is an all-pool villa resort, surrounded by a luxurious tropical rain forest and a golden sandy beach. Located half way between Hoi An and Hue, it sits beneath the steep hills of Truong Son Mountain Range and a 3-km beachfront at Lang Co Bay – a holiday spot in Central Vietnam, historically favoured by Vietnamese royalty. Alongside, sits Angsana Lang Co, its sister property, connected by an artificial canal, with a barge ferrying guests between the two resorts.

Designed like a Vietnamese village, all the 56 villas at the Banyan Tree Lang Co, are set in lush private gardens, with infinity pools facing either the beach or the hillside. Inside, the design integrates clay-tiled pitched roofs and open courtyards inspired by the traditional garden houses of neighbouring Hue. Rooms feature intimately lit bedrooms with billowy curtains and bamboo floors. A state-of-the-art in-room entertainment provides an ambient soundtrack and glass-walled bathrooms are equipped with tropically scented products.

There are three dining options with beautiful views at the Banyan Tree Lang Co resort. The poolside Watercourt restaurant for Vietnamese cuisine, the signature mountain-edge Saffron for spectacular sunsets and Thai fusion cuisine and the beachfront Italian Azura with a pizza counter. The Banyan Tree Spa offers a luxurious menu of treatments, a lagoon pool and yoga pavilion. Active members can hit for Laguna Lang Co Golf Club designed by Sir Nick Faldo or the water sports centre.

Stay Banyan Tree Lang Co is a beachfront resort with 56 all-pool villas. These are grouped in three types; the hillside pool villas with one to three bedrooms are larger than beach and lagoon villas which have excellent views. The latter being more central making it easier to cycle around the resort while the hill villas are more remote but with more lush gardens to break the hot conditions. The basic villa design comprises of a large bedroom with sitting area and a bathroom at the back. Some villas have a good sized private pool or a Jacuzzi.

ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at the Banyan Tree Lang Co. However, there are no specific facilities available. Babysitting service can be arranged, if requested.

Dine There are three dining options at the Banyan Tree Lang Co. The Water Court restaurant has international and Vietnamese cuisine but really shines at breakfast, which is extensive and outstanding. The signature Saffron Restaurant on a hilltop, specialises in Thai cuisine while the Azzura on the beachfront, serves Italian dishes from pizzas to a mix of light menu. More dining options are available at neighbouring Angsana.

Relax The Banyan Tree Lang Co resort has an extensive line-up of complimentary activities from spa and yoga, and lantern making to Vietnamese coffee making class. Swimming pool at the beach is beautiful, but also visit Angsana next door for its amazing gardens and huge 300-meter pool. Golfers can tee off in style at the Sir Nick Faldo-designed 18-hour championship golf course, meandering through rice paddies and trickling streams set in the backdrop of a staggering mountain range.

Experience We visited the resort’s organic farm, which is part of their corporate responsibility initiatives to show local farmers how to cultivate their crops using organic methods. Another activity of interest was to teach English in a local elementary school. The Banyan staffs spend two days a week at the school and guests can participate. The kids were eager to learn and seemed to genuinely enjoy the lesson plan, games and having two Britts in their classroom.

The distance from Da Nang International Airport to Banyan Tree Lang Co is 60 kilometres. A complimentary airport shuttle is available for all hotel guests.

When to go The central region of Vietnam has a tropical climate, particularly around Hué and is divided into two distinguished seasons. The dry season (from March to August) is the best time to visit Hue, especially between March and April when the temperature are more pleasant. During the colder season (August to January) rain is more frequent and can be heavy. There are several festivals in Hue and worth taking note in planning your travel.
