Topas Ecolodge is located on a mountaintop, outside the tourist hub of Sa Pa town in northern Vietnam. Spread in a circular fashion around the hill are 33 bungalows, all built with local materials and furnished with modern facilities. There is an in-house restaurant that serves a fusion of Vietnamese and Western cuisine, an infinity pool offers great vistas and a small spa offers a range of therapies with organic oils. To get the best local insight on culture Topas Ecolodge has 1-3-day trekking and cycling tours which makes this an interesting destination for those who like nature.

Built with white granite sourced from the Hoang Lien Mountains, the décor is simple and surprisingly luxurious. Each of the bungalows also has a private balcony from which you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic views. Room amenities include air-conditioning, a minibar, coffee- and tea-making facilities, a mosquito net, writing desk, and natural toiletries.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Topas Ecolodge but there are no specific facilities available for children. The area and the activities available are more suitable for children of 10 years and above.
Dine There is a two-storey restaurant at the Topas Ecolodge which serves Vietnamese and Western cuisine alongside stunning views. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are served here. Downstairs is a relaxing bar with cushioned furniture complete with an open fire for the colder nights or outside seating for the warmer evenings.
Relax Topas Ecolodge is a small property and as such does not have many facilities but there is a rejuvenating spa specialising in the traditional Red Dao herbal bath, and a newly built infinity pool with great vistas. There are ample spaces in the lodge to relax or take a leisurely stroll around the nearby villages and paddy fields.
Experience Sa Pa is located in Hoang Lien mountains of northwestern Vietnam. Topas Ecolodge organises 1-3-day trekking and mountain biking tours into Hoang Lien National Park, a global biodiversity hotspot. The surrounding Red River and the Muong Hoa Valley form a landscape of rippling mountains, populated by country’s ethnic minorities and trekking is a great way to get a sense of the area and meet local villages and see dramatic landscapes. Treks can range from easy to difficult.
Location Topas Ecolodge is located in the mountains in the north of Hanoi about 45 minutes from the town of Sa Pa.
Getting there An 8-hour train journey from Hanoi followed by a 1-hour 45-minute scenic road transfer.
When to go Generally good weather throughout the year. The finest weather of the year extends from October to April with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C. December to February are the coldest months, with temperatures dropping as low as 10°C . The monsoon prevails from May till September with stronger breezes and higher humidity with limited rainfall. Temperatures are warmer during this time, varying between 25°C to 35°C. Most rain failing in July and August and typhoons are possible.
