Scenically positioned on the banks of the Thu Bon River, Anantara Hoi An Resort in Vietnam is a charming boutique retreat in the historic port town of Hoi An. Anantara Resort’s best asset however, is its location on the riverbank. Its 94 Deluxe Rooms and Suites are all set in traditionally styled, two- or three-story townhouses, each leading out to a porch area with daybeds overlooking either the river or the courtyard garden. Each room is simple mix of comfortabe contemporary furnishings, some with black and white photographs, reflecting Hoi An's history of trade. Some rooms have sunken baths and four-poster beds.
There are three dining venues at the Anantara Resort, serving both local Vietnamese and continental cuisine. The lovely swimming pool is surrounded by gardens and trees. The nearby, wellness spa has a variety of treatments, relying on natural products to relieve stress and fatigue. In the surrounds, My Son Unesco Heritage site is 47 km drive and the Imperial City of Hue is 130 kilometres away. And the beaches of Cua Dai and An Bang can be reached by bicycle or boat from the hotel’s private jetty.

All rooms are delightfully housed in two and three storey French colonial style buildings, with garden and river views. The rooms feature split level layout comprising an upper bedroom and bathroom, and a lower lounge opening onto a porch with two, day beds. Deluxe Balcony Rooms are the entry level but for extra space, opt for Junior Gardenview or Riverview Suites, while Premium Riverview Suites offer a peaceful setting overlooking the Thu Bon River.
ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at the Anantara Hoi An resort. Under 12s can stay free with the parents or in an extra bed for a small supplement. Some rooms can be connected which are suitable for families. There are no specific facilities for children but babysitting service can be arranged, if requested.
Dine There are variety of dining options available at the Anantara Hoi An resort. The colonial-style Lanterns restaurant serves both breakfast and dinner, indoors or under covered balcony with views of river and gardens. There is a wide choice, but do take care as the white chocolate doughnuts can easily become addictive. Small lunches and drinks are served in the Riverside Café, Reflections and Heritage Bar, all scattered throughout the gardens or by the pool and river.
Relax Designed with Chinese, Ayurvedic and Thai influences, Anantara Spa has a variety of fantastic treatments guaranteed to revive and relax you and the palm shaded pool is simply stunning. There is always something interesting happening at the Anantara Hoi An resort. Some days you may have free Vietnamese lessons and on other, yoga classes or how to make the perfect cocktail. Its best to check at the lobby about what’s happening on the day.
Experience Not far from the Anantara Hoi An Resort are some lovely not-to-miss paradise beaches with clean water and snorkelling that you can reach by bike or boat. We particularly enjoyed wandering along the sand later in the day with the welcoming sea breeze, the locals frolicking in the shallows, the Cham Islands looking spectacular on the horizon and the sunset doing its thing.

Getting There The major nearby airport for Hoi An is Da Nang International Airport (DAD). There are daily flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and is about one-hour flight. From the airport, it takes about 45 minutes by car to Hoi An centre.
When to go The best time to visit Hoi An is between February and June when rainfall is low and the weather is warm. The weather heats up in the months June and July. Affected by monsoon winds, the Hoi An gets continuous rain from September till January, and then remains dry for the rest of the year. If you can, time your visit to Hoi An for the full moon during on the 14th day of the lunar year each month for the Full Moon festivals.
