Tam Coc Garden is a charming, eco-lodge, set in the heart of Ninh Binh province, north Vietnam. Situated just two hours’ drive from Hanoi, this beautiful boutique property has just sixteen rooms, set out in eight bungalows that replicated the region's quaint Tonkinese villages. All are tastefully decorated using local and natural materials, with elegantly patterned floor tiles. Outside, is a lovely pool with a stunning backdrop and complimentary bikes to explore and appreciate the magnificent landscape. The lodge organises guided trips to the World Heritage site of Trang An.
Amenities
Stay Tam Coc Gardens comprises of just 16 guestrooms housed within eight bungalows. These are grouped in types; Superior, Deluxe and Premium, offering views of the garden, rice fields or limestone peaks. All have a contemporary but traditional design and feature natural materials; polished bamboo furniture, open-beamed ceilings, ground to ceiling glass doors and intricately designed tiled floors. Premium rooms come with living spaces and outdoor patios while bathrooms have ceramic blue-glazed soaking tubs and locally-made jasmine-scented toiletries.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at the Tam Coc Garden but there are no specific facilities available for children. Babysitting service can be arranged, upon request.
Dine The in-house restaurant at the Tam Coc Garden offers unique culinary experiences, with menus based on local and regional flavours and prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients. Meals can be taken in the spacious, elegant dining area, with its high ceilings, exposed rafters and traditional ceramic tiling, or on the rooftop terrace, with fabulous sunset views over the mountains. Expect a fusion of flavours and predominantly local dishes and some western variations.
Relax Tam Coc Garden is a small property and as such does not have many facilities but there is a lovely little swimming pool in which to cool down after trekking or cycling around the countryside. It has a poolside bar to keep you hydrated. There are ample spaces in the resort to relax or take a leisurely stroll around the nearby villages and paddy fields.
Experience Tam Coc, meaning three caves in Vietnamese, is located 90 km from Hanoi and is one of Vietnam’s top tourist attractions. The area is part of the famous Trang An Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site but it is Tam Coc with its spectacular canals and karstic rock formations, that has caught the world’s attention after the film Indochine, shot here won the Oscar in 1993. Explore this beautiful countryside on a bike or local sampan and meet locals making bamboo baskets or kites.
Location Tam Coc Garden is located in the province of Ninh Binh close to the beautiful Bich Dong Pagoda. A few hours south of Hanoi, Tam Coc Garden can be easily accessed by car.
Getting there 11-hour flight to Hanoi International Airport. From Hanoi Tam Coc Garden is a 2-hour 30-minute drive south.
When to go The best time to visit Northern Vietnam is from February to April and September to November avoiding the heat and the rain. The official peak season in Vietnam is from September to April as these months see the least rain. December to February are the cooler months. May to September is the rainy season with the most rain failing in July and August and typhoons are possible.
