Inle Heritage Stilt Houses - Authentic Stay

Inle Heritage Stilt Houses comprises of beautiful authentic stilted bungalow, set on the Inle Lake, in Eastern Myanmar. Built with reclaimed wood, these unique bungalows offer an authentic experience of living on a lake, albeit with stylish interiors. The resort’s owner, Yin Myo Su, is a passionate conservationist, a Burmese cat breeder and a philanthropist. She also runs an on-site vocational training centre for students to learn the hospitality trade, supervised by professional staff.

There are just six, Inle Heritage Stilt Houses connected with boardwalks to the reception and dining pavilions. Rooms are simply but elegantly decorated in contemporary style with local materials, furnishings and fabrics created by local artisans. The lodge is low-key and peaceful though the restaurant is busy with outsiders at lunchtime. Fellow guests are likely to be expats and those who prefer a top-quality guesthouse instead of a hotel.

There is a breeding centre for Burmese cats near the Inle Heritage Stilt House but you will often see them outside all around your place. In the surrounds is the lake’s wetland ecosystem, home to nearly 300 bird species, including the globally endangered Sarus crane, as well as 50 varieties of fish, otters and turtles, some of which are endemic to the area. The popular activities include trekking and boat rides to explore the neighbouring villages, home to local Kayan and Pa’O tribes.
