Travel to Agra to witness the magnificent Taj Mahal at sunset. Then, head to Orchha for a serene experience in this tranquil town, visiting its historical palace complex. In Varanasi, explore the spiritual essence of the city with walks along the ghats and a boat ride on the Ganges at sunset.

Cross into Nepal to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, and then immerse yourself in local culture with a homestay in Royal Chitwan National Park. The journey culminates in Pokhara and Kathmandu, offering panoramic Himalayan views and cultural experiences like the Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). Embark on a 15-day journey starting in Delhi, through Jaipur's Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal, to Agra for the Taj Mahal. Explore rural Orchha and Tarragram paper plant, then overnight to Varanasi for Ganges and temples. In Nepal, visit Buddha's birthplace in Lumbini, stay in Royal Chitwan, relish Pokhara's Himalayan vistas, and end in Kathmandu at Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple).

New Delhi

Arrive in Delhi at your own convenience. Transfer to your accommodation through the Women With Wheels project, supported by our ground operator. There are no planned activities for the day, but you can join an optional dinner with the group in the evening. Meet your CEO and fellow travellers during the welcome meeting. Afterward, you can choose to join the group for a local meal. Check the notice in the lobby or ask reception for the meeting details.

DAY 2

Jaipur

Visit Delhi's India Gate and Connaught Place before heading to Jaipur, known as the Pink City. Take an orientation walk to get acquainted with the city, and consider watching a classic Bollywood film. Optional Activities: Raj Mandir Cinema and Movie

DAY 3

Jaipur

Discover the UNESCO-listed Amber Fort, nestled against Maota Lake's hills. Pause to admire the enchanting Hawa Mahal, or Palace of the Winds, with its intricate facade, enabling purdah women from Zenana to observe street life unseen. In your free time, consider an energising cycle tour or explore the vibrant Sanganer village, known for colourful pottery, handmade paper, and block printing. Experience a classic Bollywood film in the opulent Art Deco Raj Mandir cinema. Alternatively, dine at Kitchen With A Cause, where every delicious meal helps support the local community. Agra

Orcha

Embark on a journey by train and rickshaw to the tranquil town of Orchha, nestled along the Betwa River. Escape the hustle and bustle of India's metropolises and immerse yourself in rural tranquillity. Explore the historical palace complex to delve into the region's ancient past. Choose to partake in a puja in the evening, a traditional Hindu prayer ceremony, for an authentic cultural experience. Optional Activities: Puja Ceremony

DAY 6

Varanasi

Tour Tarragram, an innovative paper-making plant established to empower local tribal women. This plant uses recycled clothing and wood pulp for its paper production. Following this, use your free time to wander around Orchha. You can opt to rent a bike, walk by the river, or join a cooking class where you can savour your own cooked lunch. In the evening, board an overnight train bound for the spiritual city of Varanasi. Optional Activities: Bike Rental

Varanasi

Arrive in Varanasi, the epitome of spiritual India, a city of pilgrimage, worship, and solace for millions of Hindus. Embark on an exploratory walk along the ghats and through the ancient city. At sunset, experience the serenity of a Ganges boat ride and behold the mesmerising sight of a candlelit flower ceremony. Optional Activities: Lord Hanuman Temple

DAY 8

Varanasi

Start your day with a sunrise boat tour on the sacred Ganges, then use your free time to explore the holy city of Varanasi. Traverse the narrow alleys, visit a few of the numerous temples, or roam the Old City. You may opt to visit the site of Buddha's inaugural sermon or simply observe life unfurling along the riverbanks. If pre-booked, join the Varanasi Heritage Walk for a guide-led exploration focusing on local life, cultural values, and philosophical aspects of Varanasi, providing insight into its significance to Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Alternatively, if pre-booked, take a Guided Visit to Sarnath to delve into Buddha's life. Explore the archaeological ruins of the monastery, the Sarnath Museum, and the sacred Maha Bodhi Tree. Visit temples established by Buddhist devotees from Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Japan, and pause to admire the Buddha statue during this three-hour guided exploration.

Lumbini

Cross the border into Nepal and travel to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. Visit the Maya Devi Temple, where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama. Train: Travel from Varanasi to Gorakhpur by train. Taxi: Journey from Gorakhpur to Sunauli by taxi. Border Crossing (Nepal): Cross the border from Sunauli to Bhairāhawā. Private Vehicle: Travel from Bhairāhawā to Lumbini by private vehicle. Maya Devi Temple Buddha's Birthplace Visit: Explore the sacred Maya Devi Temple.

Chitwan National Park

DAY 11

Chitwan National Park

Embark on a 4x4 safari in the diverse ecosystems of Chitwan National Park. Explore the wildlife-rich region, including the chance to spot birds, monkeys, crocodiles, rhinos, and even tigers. Take a walk through the village and rice paddies, and continue the cultural experience with another evening of dance, songs, and Nepalese food.

Pokhara

Travel from Royal Chitwan National Park to Pokhara, a city nestled near the beautiful Annapurna Range. Take in the pristine lakes and panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. Kathmandu

Embark on a drive to Kathmandu, stopping by the renowned Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) on the way. Arrive in the capital city in the afternoon and familiarise yourself with its landscapes on an orientation walk. Kathmandu's highlights include the globally acclaimed Durbar Square, the King's Palace, Pashupatinath's cremation sites, and the Boudhanath Stupa. Swayambhunath, Kathmandu valley's oldest and most mystical holy shrine, is noticeable from afar, thanks to its towering white dome and sparkling golden spire. To access Swayambhunath, ascend 365 steps up the hill. The area around the stupa is a tableau of temples, religious images, and an array of other sacred items.
