The Four Seasons Chiang Mai: Ultimate Luxury in Thailand

Four Seasons Resort in Thailand is located in the Mae Rim Valley, just north of Chiang Mai. Set around working rice terraces and surrounded by Suthep mountains, this resort is carefully designed like a traditional Thai village, to merge with its nature. The architecture is classic Lanna, including steeply pitched roofs, with modern Thai aesthetic that reflects the country’s Lanna history.

The standard rooms are gorgeous and situated directly on the rice fields. But the Pool Villas are fabulous. The unique layout includes a bedroom that is surrounded by large glass windows so you can look at the tranquil gardens and rice fields beyond. The beautiful bathroom has a large sunken tub, an outdoor and indoor shower and a private plunge pool large enough to swim laps.

There is a choice of two restaurants; Terraces for Italian and continental best for lunches. And the Sala Mae Rim, their Thai restaurant. Try “Khao Soy Gai”, Chiang Mai curry noodles, one of the resorts signature dishes; chicken cooked with coconut milk and crispy rice noodles. Let me hasten to add a warning that it might inspire you, as it did to me, to join their four-hour Thai cooking lesson with their resident chef.

When to go The best time to visit most of Thailand is between November and March as this is the coolest time of year. March-Jun brings the hot season when sightseeing is best scheduled for morning or late afternoon. May, September and October are the wettest months and between June and August, you can still visit Bangkok although you will get some rain. During this time, there are fewer tourists and the landscape is lush and green.
