Six Senses Samui: Luxury Island Resort in Thailand

Six Senses Samui is a five-star luxury resort, set on the northeastern tip of the Koh Samui island, off the east coast of Thailand. Situated on a raised peninsular, isolated from the more mainstream tourist locations on the island, the resort has cleverly used its location to create an enhanced sense of privacy and privilege. Positioned on a jungle-covered promontory above the white sands of Choeng Mon, it offers stunning views of the surrounding Gulf of Siam and its outlying islands.

Flower-lined wooden walkways connect 66 newly refurbished villas. All are spacious, completely open plan, two level lofts, where one level features the swimming pool and daytime reclining area, and the upper level is dedicated to sleeping and bathing. Guests can choose between Dining on the Rocks on ten terraced decks of weathered teak and bamboo, or on the hill in casual Thai huts. Activities include a range of watersports to alfresco spa treatments to cookery lessons.

There is also a well-equipped gym and a library to relax with a book. There is also a weekly open-air cinema screening.

Experience The Six Senses Samui resort offers a large variety of land- and ocean-based activities including private boat hire, kayaking, hobie-catamaran excursions, sunset cruises and island hopping. Non-motorised water sports include snorkelling, kayaking and sailing. The resort also organises land excursions to include mountain biking, sea kayaking, market trips and island tours. There is a professional diving centre which conducts diving and snorkelling in the Koh Tao area.

Location Six Senses Samui is located on a headland on the northern tip of Samui Island. It is set amongst 20 acres of indigenous vegetation and offers uninterrupted panoramas to the Gulf of Siam and outlying islands. Koh Samui is south of Bangkok and east of Phuket, inside the Gulf of Thailand. The island is just 21 kilometres wide and 25 kilometres long.

Getting there 11-hour international flight to Bangkok, followed by a 1-hour domestic flight. The resort is an easy and scenic 15-minute drive from Samui International Airport.

When to go Koh Samui has a tropical climate and the best time to visit is from February to September, which is relatively dry but there is some rain every month. February to April are the driest months. October to January are wet with the monsoon coming from the northeast across the Gulf of Thailand.
