Chakrabongse Villas is an exquisite heritage property, set on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in central Bangkok. Housed within the main house and surrounding wooden cottages are just nine rooms and suites, all elegantly decorated with Balinese wooden doors, Indian artefacts and Moroccan-influenced fabrics. For relaxation, there is a lovely pool surrounded by tropical gardens and a restaurant serving delicious Royal Family recipes passed down through generations.

Stay Chakrabongse Villas has just nine beautiful rooms and suites. Housed in four independent teak wood cottages are the spacious suites that display a splash of character with old Moroccan doors and Indian beds brought back from the owner's travels. Guests can choose from River View Suite, Garden Suite, Chinese Suite or the Thai House. While set in an annexe are three smaller Double Rooms. All are air-conditioned with minibars, coffee makers, cable TVs and free Wi-Fi.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at the Chakrabongse Villas. The Chinese Suite is a 2-bedroom house with a generous, glassed-in living room, and a private veranda leading to the communal pool, making it ideal for families. Chinese touches include antique lacquered cabinets, carved screens and a sumptuous Chinese four-poster bed. There are no other facilities specific for children.
Dine The Aharn Thai restaurant at the Chakrabongse Villas, set in an open sala above the water of the Chao Phraya, serves classic Thai cuisine and some continental options. Meals are served in the sala or al fresco on the terrace with great views of Wat Arun across the water. Breakfast is buffet style while lunch and dinner need to be booked in advance which includes a fixed menu of Royal Family’s own recipes passed down from generation to generation.
Relax Facilities at the Chakrabongse Villas include a 1950s-style freeform pool large enough for a good swim, providing a welcome respite from heat and humid weather. There is a library in one of the teak wood houses contains a good selection of non-fiction books. In-villa massages can be arranged and there are complimentary kayaks and bikes for those looking for a little more adventure. They also have their own long-tailed boat that can be booked for ad-hoc trips.
Experience Chakrabongse Villas are ideally located close to some of the city’s highlights such as Wat Po and the Grand Palace. The former is perhaps Bangkok’s most impressive temple, with its massive Reclining Buddha. Just across the river is the distinctive Wat Arun or Temple of Dawn, with its polychromatic porcelain flower-decorations. For a romantic experience, you can book a canal tour of Thonburi which gives a different perspective into this ‘Venice of the East’.
Location Chakrabongse Villas is located in the heart of Old Bangkok on the banks of Chao Phraya River. It's not far from Wat Pho and The Grand Palace.
Getting there 11-hour international flight Bangkok International Suvarnabhumi Airport. Chakrabongse Villas is a 45-minute drive from the airport (please note this can be more at different times of day due to traffic)
When to go Bangkok is a year-round destination. November to April are often the best months to visit Bangkok with the least rain. Temperatures are comfortable until March when the humidity increases. May, September and October are the wettest months and between June and August, you can still visit Bangkok although you will get some rain.
