Hotel Tugu Lombok is an antiques-laden boutique hotel, set on the pristine beach of Sire, on the northwest coast of Lombok. The hotel has a distinct colonial character, while its interiors are inspired by mythical stories of Indonesian Hindu gods. Owned by one of Indonesia’s most prominent antiques collectors and filled with supersized statues, this part hotel, part museum is a perfect gateway to the Gili islands and to experience a rustic and romantic side of Indonesia.
Nestled around lush tropical gardens, Hotel Tugu Lombok has just 39 villas. The seven Bhagavad Gita suites are thatched villas set well back from the beach, with detached bath houses equipped with traditional bucket showers. Inland, behind the 100-year-old carved wooden house from Java that serves as the hotel's lobby, are the Aloon-Aloon, six colonial-style villas. Even the most basic, a strip of five rooms have hand-hewn furniture and oversized copper tubs in outdoor bathrooms.
Situated right on the beach, guests at Hotel Tugu Lombok have plenty of opportunities to enjoy watersports including snorkelling, surfing and kayaking. A short 20-minute ride onboard the hotel’s private boat, are three small, coral-fringed islands where you can see a variety of marine life. Nature tours to some of Lombok’s most beautiful waterfalls, volunteering for releasing the turtle hatchlings and learning the art of pearl cultivation are popular activities here.

Stay Hotel Tugu Lombok features just 39 bungalows, suites and villas. Each room is individually decorated with Indonesian antiques and artworks. Expect cool tiled floors, huge sumptuous beds with plush linen and rooms adorned with local fabrics and artefacts. Amenities include private garden space, open air bathrooms with hand carved stone bath tubs and oversized rain showers, LCD TVs, air conditioning and mini bars, and some have private plunge pools with ocean views.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Hotel Tugu Lombok but there are no specific facilities available for children. Please note the hotel is suited more to older children and adults.
Dine Guests have a wide choice of dining options at the Hotel Tugu Lombok. Each venue serves international and Indonesian dishes with picturesque views of Lombok. Breakfast is an extravagant à la carte affair and lunches are on the beach. Complimentary high tea is usually set in the gardens, while the cocktail hour presents a dramatic setting. The dine-anywhere concept allows you to enjoy your meal in the lush gardens, in your own private hut or even on the beach.
Relax The oversized pool at the Hotel Tugu Lombok is set next to the beach, perfect for relaxing and lined with sun loungers and umbrellas on the beautiful white sand beach. If you’d like something quieter, there's is a smaller secondary pool. Guests can take a complimentary 15-minute massage at the Henin Swarga Spa but it’s worth signing up for a full treatment. Relax in the Jacuzzi tub while gazing out at the Indian Ocean or experience yoga or meditation on the temple roof.
Experience There are plenty of opportunities to be active while staying at the Hotel Tugu Lombok. Guests can go snorkelling, surfing and kayaking right in front of the hotel’s beach and the hotel can also arrange diving at the Gili Islands or visit the island's famous pearl farms. Ground activities include trekking past waterfalls to top of Mount Rinjani. There’s also an excellent eighteen-hole golf course nearby or you can assist in hatching turtles, a worthwhile pursuit.

Getting there Fly into Bandara International Lombok Airport via Bali. From there, the hotel is a 90-minute drive.
When to go Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Indonesia at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.
