Como Uma Ubud is a peaceful luxury hideaway, set on the outskirts of Ubud, central Bali. Japanese architect Kochiro Ikebuchi has made the hotel work in harmony with its surroundings. All the 46 rooms and villas, built with local wood and alang alang thatched roofs are tucked away and secluded. Individual plunge pools vanish into the surrounding fields and meticulously manicured courtyards dot the property. Inside, the rooms blend Zen simplicity with traditional Balinese elements and lime washed wood carvings making them light, airy and calming.
At the heart of the property is Como Uma Ubud's open air restaurant 'Kemiri' Restaurant that showcases South East Asian cuisine using local and indigenous spices, whilst casual Italian fare complement the inventive cocktail menu at Uma Cucina. Relax with a signature cocktail at the cool Pool Bar or choose to dine in the comfort of your own room. Uma Ubud can organise a whole host of activities in and around Ubud including yoga, guided walks, cycling, hiking and rafting.

Stay Como Uma Ubud features just 46 rooms and villas. All rooms have four-poster beds, fabulous baths, private courtyards with open-air showers or garden terraces with sweeping views. The Uma Pool Villas and the COMO Villa are the most extravagant, boasting the largest square footage, sitting rooms and their own infinity plunge pools overlooking the trees and the valley below. The COMO Villa also has a private spa treatment area and a Jacuzzi. All have air-conditioning and mod-cons.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Uma Ubud but there are no particular facilities available for children. The restaurant offers a children's menu.
Dine There are two restaurants at the Como Uma Ubud. The open-air Kemiri restaurant serves modern Balinese and Asian food as well as healthy Shambhala cuisine. Uma Cucina is an Italian-inspired restaurant and lounge bar with a large communal dining table at the heart of the space. Menus are strong on fresh, locally-sourced produce of seasonal vegetables, seafood and slow-cooked meats. The poolside Uma Bar with cocktail specialists has a great collection of fine wines and spirits.
Relax Begin your day at the Como Uma Ubud with a morning walk through local rice paddies followed with a relaxed breakfast. Explore the surrounds during the day before cooling off in the afternoon in a 25-metre swimming pool or on a comfy wooden sun lounger. For ultimate relaxation, Como Shambhala's signature holistic treatments and Asian-inspired massages are available in the beautiful spa.
Experience Soak up Ubud's culture by visiting some of the temples within a short drive of Como Uma Ubud near Amandari, including Pura Agung Gunung Raung, and the woodcarved Gunung Kawiv. Shop till you drop at the Ubud Art Market or 'Pasar Seni Ubud' where you can find beautiful silk scarves, lightweight shirts and handmade woven bags. Next to Monkey Forest to see grey long-tailed macaque and further to Goa Gajah ‘Elephant Cave’ and 11th-century Hindu Temple.
Location Uma Ubud is located on Jalan Raya Sanggingan, on the fringe of the artists’ town of Ubud, a small town and Bali’s cultural hub, overlooking the Tjampuhan Valley and River Oos. The landscape comprises rolling rice paddies carved out of hillsides backed by the curve of coconut palms.
Getting there 17-hour international flight (with one change in Singapore) to Denpasar Ngurah Rai Airport. Uma Ubud is an hour's drive from the international airport.
When to go Bali’s climate is warm and humid, temperatures averaging between 21°C and 31°C. Short bursts of rain occur from November until April, making the velvet green landscape come alive. April to October is the dry season, although in hilly Ubud, you rarely feel too hot.
Festival periods can get busier. In Ubud, however, you never feel the crowds. This is the advantage Ubud has over the south coast area that can get packed to bursting around August, Christmas and New Year.
