Silolona Boat | Luxury Holidays in Eastern Indonesia | AsianGeographicalAdventures.com

Indonesia

Silolona is a gorgeous twin-masted, traditional Phinisi sailing vessel, operating in the Indonesian Archipelago as well as in Thailand’s Mu Koh Similan National Park and Myanmar’s Mergui Archipelago. Owned by Patti Seery, an American anthropologist who spent 25 years exploring Indonesia, often leading Explorer’s Club on ill-equipped converted cargo boats before she decided to build her own. Seery’s Silolona is one of the first to offer this kind of well-considered service here.

Housed within this magnificent 50-metre vessel, Silolona has just 5 cabins, including three with king-size beds and lounge areas and two with double beds. Inside, Seery’s lifelong fascination with traditional Asian woven textiles and artefacts is evident, as much as her insistence on travelling in ultimate comfort and style. All rooms classically decorated and enjoy the warmth of solid wood, creating a relaxed ambience in an air-conditioned environment with ensuite bathrooms.

Guests have a choice to create their own itinerary on Silolona, you can cruise the East Indonesian Islands in search of the Komodo Dragon or explore remote diving sites. The boat is fully equipped with equipment for snorkelling, fishing and diving or you can explore the area of your choice at your own pace. Silolona sails in Indonesia from April to November every year, before going up to the West Coast of Malaysia, Thailand and up to Myanmar from December to March.

Silolona Boat Indonesia

Stay The Silolona has five air-conditioned en-suite cabins. These include three Master Cabins with king-size beds with additional lounge areas and two Guest Cabins with double beds. Each is adorned with traditional woven textiles and Indonesian artefacts, combining the warmth of solid wood with neutral cream tones, creating an elegant, relaxed ambiance.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay onboard the Silolona Boat. There are two cabins with double beds and when taken on a private charter, the chef can prepare special menus for children. The itinerary can also be altered to ensure that the boat visits destinations more suitable for children’s safety and activities.

Dine The dedicated 5-Star Chef on Silolona creates personalised menus to satisfy even the most discerning foodies. Delight in Asian fusion of traditional South East Asian specialties and classic Western fare. Meals can be taken in an air-conditioned indoor lounge and dining area, naturally lit with large windows or alfresco on the boat's dining deck, cooled by sea breeze and in view of the turquoise ocean or may be on a remote beach in wild locations.

Relax There are ample spaces on Silolona including lounge areas fitted on the bowsprit and the aft deck, with daybeds for relaxing in the shade and sunloungers. There is also an expert health therapist onboard who can create a special spa and yoga programme to suit your needs. Three Zodiac tenders accompany the boat to take you off for day excursions, to remote beaches for picnic or fishing.

Experience Chartering Silolona allows you to not only dive in some of the best diving sites within the Indonesian Archipelago but also stop on remote beaches for picnics. Silolona is fully licensed and has a PADI Dive Centre, with three full size tenders, offering two dives per person per day on board for licensed divers and all other water activities. The boat is equipped with snorkelling and diving equipment, kayaks, water skis, windsurfer, wake board and fishing gear.

Location Cruise the East Indonesian Islands, Silolona Boat is positioned during April to November off the islands of Eastern Indonesia.

Getting there A 17-hour international flight with one stopover to Denpasar Ngurah Rai, followed by a 1-hour domestic seaplane to Ruteng.

When to go Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Indonesia at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.
