Alila Purnama: Luxurious Yacht Charter in Indonesia

Alila Purnama is a luxury yacht that operates between the remote islands of the Indonesian Archipelago, including Raja Ampat and Komodo. The 46-metre long yacht has been beautifully handcrafted in the traditional Phinisi style, used by seafarers from South Sulawesi. At its helm, is the Spanish born Mario Gonzalez Martin, an accomplished diver with extensive knowledge of dives sites across Indonesia. And, with a full-time 16-member crew, you have attentive service on hand.

Spread across three decks of Alila Purnama, are just five cabins, including a master suite, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins. All are elegantly furnished with part wood-panelled walls, plush beds draped in fine linen and custom-made teak and rattan furniture. Oversized daybeds, shaded by umbrellas on the main outdoor deck provide a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sea breeze. There is also a library lounge and bar with a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Facilities aboard Alila Purnama include a private chef who creates delicious contemporary dishes served in the air-conditioned dining room or on the outdoor deck. During the day, guests can explore the Komodo National Park, as well as the largely uninhabited islands. Water activities include diving, snorkelling, swimming with dolphins, manta rays and a see a whole array of multi-coloured tropical marine life. Back on board, you can succumb to the soothing signature Alila massage.

Stay Alila Purnama features just five air-conditioned cabins. These include a master suite, set above deck and has windows on three sides that can be opened to allow sea breeze and 270-degree views of the ever-changing landscape. The bathroom features a shower, bathtub, two washbasins and an enclosed separate toilet. There are also two well-appointed double cabins and two twin cabins all have en-suite bathrooms and furnishings made from teak and rattan.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay on board the Alila Purnama. The ship has a crew of 16 who are great at ensuring the safety and entertainment of children is a priority, allowing the parents to enjoy some R&R whilst knowing their little ones are in great hands.

Dine The on-board chef on Alila Purnama will consult with the guests about their choice of meals and will create a healthy menu to satisfy their particular taste. Guests can dine in the air-conditioned dining area seating up to 10 or on the outdoor deck. There is an extensive list of non-alcoholic beverages, which are all-inclusive while alcoholic beverages including wines, beers and cocktails are at an additional charge. There’s also an onboard barbecue, ideal for freshly grilled seafood.

Relax There is a private balcony and large sundeck with a daybed and deckchairs, providing an ultimate space for relaxation. Alila Purnama has an on-board spa therapist to provide soothing Alila massage onboard or on a nearby beach. Additional facilities include a library, lounge, bar, and plenty of space outside to unwind and enjoy the views. The vessel is also equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi access, enabling guests to upload their trip photos on a daily basis.

Experience The highlight of Alila Purnama is its expedition itinerary that cruises through the deep blue waters of Raja Ampat between December and March and meandering through the Komodo National Park from April to November. Raja Ampat is home to the world's most bio-diverse marine region, so a real underwater Mecca for diving aficionados. There is plenty of equipment for all guests onboard for yoga, kayaking, fishing and snorkelling. Development diving courses are also offered onboard.

Location Alexa Private Cruise is docked in Flores, near Komodo National Park.

Getting there All expeditions require a short domestic flight from Bali to some of the smaller outlying islands in the Indonesian Archipelago. As a general rule, due to flight times, you will need to spend a few nights either side of the expedition in Bali. For the Raja Ampat expeditions, fly from Bali to Sorong. For Komodo Island expeditions, fly from Bali to Labuan Bajo.

When to go Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. Given the different climates throughout the archipelago, the vessel is able to operate different expeditions at different times of year. Between December and March, the Alila Purnama operates expeditions to explore the magical waters of Raja Ampat, and from April to November, the expedition changes course for the mythical island of Komodo.
