ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at the Miri Marriott Resort & Spa. The resort has a Miri Marriott Seahorse Kids Club with games including X-box games. An outdoor children's playground, inflatable pool playground and special aerobics classes for kids at the Marriott Fitness Centre.
Dine Dining options at Miri Marriott include Zest, an international restaurant offering a variety of cuisine from freshly made pasta, pizzas from wood burning ovens and wok-fried Asian delicacies. It doubles as an Italian restaurant at night. Borneo Baking Company offers fresh cakes and premium coffees and teas. Relax There is no beach, but everyone talks about the pool which is huge. It is in fact Sarawak's largest free form swimming pool and has shallow area for children and a deep end for adults. Miri Marriott Spa and Wellness Centre facilities include three double Spa Suites with private outdoor bath, sauna and relaxation area. For those feeling active here is a gym and aerobics studio and outdoor tennis courts.
Experience Adventure explorers at Miri Marriott can take a day to explore Miri’s caves. Deer Cave, the most popular with the longest natural passages in the world is home to millions of bats. Tourists come here to watch an evening spectacle when thousands of bats leave the cave at dusk. Fishing tours are common with a local fisherman. Public beaches aren’t hard to find in Miri and the best known is Brighton Beach.

Getting There The new sparkling Miri International Airport (MYY), is a significant hub for central Borneo. There are frequent flights from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Miri airport is also connected to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. Kota Kinabalu is a short hop from Singapore, Hong Kong, Kaula Lumpur and Brunei. There are daily flights from Miri to Mulu and three times each week from Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
When to go A good time to travel to Borneo is between March and September/October, even though Southwest monsoon brings in short burst of showers between May to July. Showers usually occur on the upper slopes in the afternoon while Mount Kinabalu has its own climate. The driest season runs from April to October but even during this season, a good raincoat is a must. The heaviest rainfall generally occurs between October and January and the lowest in between February and April.
