This 13 day tour takes you through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia to experience the diverse cultures, landscapes and ancient landmarks of the Caucasus region. Start in Baku where modern skyscrapers meet medieval walls and explore the heritage of Gobustan and Sheki, a Silk Road gem with colourful palaces and artisan traditions. Cross into Georgia to see the charming streets of Tbilisi, the cave towns of Uplistsikhe and the dramatic mountain scenery of Kazbegi, reached by the breathtaking Georgian Military Highway.

In Armenia uncover a deep spiritual history through visits to ancient monasteries and UNESCO listed sites. Wander through the “Pink City” of Yerevan, relax by the peaceful shores of Lake Sevan and take part in a traditional lavash-making experience. Along the way enjoy warm hospitality, home-cooked meals and encounters with local artisans. This multi-country journey is perfect for curious travellers looking for an immersive experience through the historical crossroads of Europe and Asia.

BAKU & GOBUSTANS ANCIENT ART: Explore Baku’s old and new, from the UNESCO listed Old City to the futuristic Flame Towers. Nearby Gobustan National Park has thousands of prehistoric rock carvings, a glimpse into early human life in the Caucasus region. 

SHEKI & THE SILK ROAD LEGACY: Step into the history of Sheki, a former Silk Road stop. Visit the colourful Sheki Khan’s Palace and walk cobbled lanes lined with caravanserais and craft shops. Learn about traditional Azerbaijani stained glass-making in a hands-on Shebeke workshop. 

GEORGIAS MOUNTAINS & MONASTERIES: Drive along the stunning Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi, visit Ananuri Castle and climb to the hilltop Gergeti Trinity Church. Explore ancient cave towns and the religious heart of Georgia in Mtskheta, with its impressive medieval churches and panoramic views. 

ARMENIAS CULTURE & SPIRITUAL SITES: Discover Armenia’s Christian heritage at ancient monasteries like Geghard and Haghpat. Walk the streets of Yerevan, visit the Genocide Memorial and relax at Lake Sevan and Dilijan’s forested hills, often called the “Switzerland of Armenia.”

DAY 1

Baku

GATEWAY TO CAUCUS Arrive in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Meet your guide at the airport and transfer to your hotel to check in and relax. The rest of the day is free. You can take a walk along the Caspian Sea promenade or see the mix of old and new Baku. It’s a calm start to your Caucasus journey.

Baku

HISTORY & HERITAGE: Start the day with Gobustan National Park and its ancient rock carvings. These petroglyphs show life from thousands of years ago. Back in Baku enjoy the views from Upland Park and explore the UNESCO listed Old City. Visit the Maiden Tower, Shirvanshah’s Palace and the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum. Walk along the Baku Boulevard in the evening.

DAY 3

Sheki

THE SILK ROAD’S HIDDEN GEM: Today we head west to Sheki, an old town on the Silk Road. On the way stop at two beautiful mausoleums—Diri Baba and Yeddi Gumbaz—known for their Islamic architecture. Travel through the Muganly Pass and arrive in Sheki. Explore the stunning Sheki Khan’s Palace full of stained glass and carved woodwork. End the day walking through Sheki’s historic streets.

DAY 4

Tbilisi

INTO GEORGIA – KAKHETI & TBILISI Visit the Summer Palace of Sheki Khan in the morning, then learn the art of Shebeke glasswork from local craftsmen. Cross into Georgia’s wine region and have a home-cooked lunch with a Georgian family. Listen to traditional polyphonic singing, a UNESCO listed art form. Continue to Sighnaghi, a small walled town with great views. Visit Bodbe Monastery, then drive to Tbilisi.

DISCOVER TBILISI’S OLD TOWN – A CROSSROADS OF CULTURES: Walking tour of Tbilisi’s multicultural Old Town. Visit Sameba Cathedral, then the Metekhi Church and Narikala Fortress for city views.Walk down Shardeni Street, full of cafes and local shops. See the Anchiskhati Church, Tbilisi’s oldest and finish on lively Rustaveli Avenue, home to theatres, galleries and local life.

Tbilisi

ANCIENT ROCK CITIES & GEORGIA’S SPIRITUAL HEART: Visit the rock-carved city of Uplistsikhe to see ancient cave dwellings. In Gori visit the Stalin Museum to learn about Georgia’s controversial historical figure. Then head to Mtskheta, Georgia’s former capital. See Jvari Monastery on a hilltop and the beautiful Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Back to Tbilisi for a relaxing evening.

KAZBEGI MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE Drive along the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi. Stop at Ananuri Castle overlooking a beautiful reservoir. Along the way visit small artisan workshops to see Georgian crafts. In Kazbegi take a 4x4 ride to Gergeti Trinity Church, high up in the mountains. Enjoy the view of Mount Kazbegi before returning to Tbilisi.

Yerevan

CROSSING INTO ARMENIA – UNESCO HERITAGE: Cross the border into Armenia and meet your new guide. Visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites—Haghpat and Akhtala Monasteries. Haghpat was once a centre of learning, Akhtala is known for its frescoes and carvings. Travel through beautiful countryside and arrive in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital.

THE PINK CITY’S ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE: Explore Yerevan, also called the Pink City for its rose-coloured buildings. Start at Republic Square, then walk past Opera House and Cascade art steps. Visit the Matenadaran to see ancient manuscripts. Later pay your respects at the Armenian Genocide Memorial, a powerful and moving site.

Lake Sevan National Park

LAKE SEVAN & DILIJAN – ARMENIA’S NATURAL BEAUTY: Drive to Lake Sevan, one of the world’s highest freshwater lakes. Visit Sevanavank Monastery on a hill above the lake.Continue to Dilijan, famous for its green landscapes and fresh air. Walk by Paz Lake and take an optional boat ride. Visit the 12th-century Goshavank Monastery and then back to Yerevan.

Yerevan

Visit Ejmiatsin, the spiritual centre of Armenia. See the ancient cathedral and museum with sacred Christian relics. On the way back stop at Zvartnots Temple, now in ruins but once a masterpiece of early Christian architecture. Back to Yerevan and free evening.

Yerevan

ANCIENT PAGAN TEMPLES & CAVE MONASTERIES: Start with Garni Temple, Armenia’s only Pagan temple on a hill with great views. Then Geghard Monastery, part-carved into the mountain. Take part in a lavash-baking session and enjoy the warm bread with local cheese. Back to Yerevan for your last night in the Caucasus.
