Walk scenic trails, visit ancient churches, stay in family guesthouses, and discover local culture in Svaneti and beyond. A perfect mix of soft adventure, history, and authentic Georgian hospitality.
Arrive in Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital. After clearing immigration, meet your private guide and driver and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a comfortable ride through the city. Once checked in, the rest of the day is free for you to rest or explore the area. You might take a short walk to get a feel for the city, have a coffee or simply relax at the hotel after the journey. This first day sets the pace for the adventure.
Today explore Tbilisi’s mix of cultures and history. Visit Metekhi Church for views of the Old Town, then walk the cobblestone streets with traditional balconies and small shops. Ride the cable car up to Narikala Fortress, pass by Mother Georgia statue. Walk down to the sulphur baths district. Later visit the History Museum’s golden treasures or the flea market for Soviet-era finds and local art. The city’s history and energy comes alive as you walk through its streets, from ancient churches to modern cafes and galleries.
Leave Tbilisi and head to Mtskheta, an ancient city and religious centre. Visit Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, both UNESCO sites with deep Christian roots. Drive north via the Georgian Military Highway, a scenic road through the mountains. Stop at Ananuri Fortress overlooking a turquoise lake. After a scenic drive arrive in Stepantsminda, a peaceful mountain town at the foot of the Caucasus. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the fresh air and quiet. Today is a balance of cultural heritage and mountain landscapes as you enter Georgia’s highlands.
Start the day with a drive to Sno Valley to the high altitude village of Juta. Walk along the trails surrounded by alpine peaks, to the base of Mt. Chaukhebi. After enjoying the views return to Juta and then to Gergeti Trinity Church. This iconic site perched on a hill offers breathtaking views of the Caucasus Mountains. Later try felting with local artisans and taste homemade jams. This day is a mix of soft hiking, culture, local crafts and scenery in Georgia’s mountain heartland.
Drive through the mountain villages and green valleys to Truso Valley. Follow the river trail to see ancient ruins, colourful mineral springs and the abandoned village of Ketrisi with its old watchtower. The wide valley surrounded by tall peaks feels wild and untouched. After a day of light hiking and scenic stops continue to Gudauri, a small mountain resort area. Spend the night at a cozy guesthouse surrounded by fresh air and alpine landscapes. Today is a real taste of the Caucasus wilderness with plenty of nature and history along the way.
Hike through Khada Valley filled with wildflowers in summer. The trail passes stone towers, tiny villages, churches and mineral springs and offers views of Georgia’s untouched countryside. End the hike at Kvesheti where your car awaits. Then drive to Kutaisi, one of the oldest cities in the world. Walk around its old town, visit historic landmarks and see the UNESCO-listed Gelati Monastery, once a centre of learning and royal burial site. Enjoy a peaceful evening in Kutaisi. This day combines mountain walking with history and a journey into western Georgia’s cultural heart.
Start the day at Kutaisi’s Green Bazaar full of fresh fruit, cheese and wine. Drive north to the Svaneti region known for its high mountains and unique culture. Along the way visit Gordi village and Okatse Canyon where you can walk along the high wooden paths through the forest. Stop by the waterfall if time allows. Continue to the Enguri Dam and then to Mestia, a small town deep in the Caucasus. Check in to a family run guesthouse and enjoy the mountain scenery. This day is full of natural beauty and traditional life.
Go to see the beautiful Koruldi Lakes near the foot of Mt. Ushba. The calm lakes reflect the sky and the snowy peaks around them. After enjoying the mountain scenery return to Mestia and visit the Svaneti Museum. The museum shares stories of the Svan people and displays old weapons, icons and traditional items. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring the town. This day is a mix of natural wonder and a deeper look into the culture of Georgia’s highland communities.
Drive from Mestia to Mulakhi village, passing through forests and flower filled meadows. Explore this quiet village known for its tall stone towers. Then take a 4WD drive to Ushguli, one of the highest villages in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here surrounded by high mountains and historic towers life continues as it has for centuries. Stay in a family guesthouse and enjoy homemade food and warm hospitality. Today brings you deep into the mountains for a truly authentic experience of Georgia’s remote village life.
Wake up to stunning views of the Caucasus. Take a gentle hike along the Enguri River to the Shkhara Glacier, one of Georgia’s natural wonders. Depending on the season the valley may be filled with wildflowers or glowing autumn colours. On your way back stop at the ancient Lamaria Church with centuries old frescoes and traditional Svanetian design. Spend the rest of the day soaking in the peaceful surroundings of this unique mountain community. Today is a mix of soft adventure and quiet reflection in one of Georgia’s most remote corners.
Hike to King Tamar’s Castle, a lone stone tower with views of Ushguli. Then hike across the Svaneti range, passing through Govarshi and up to Latpari Pass. This route is challenging but rewarding with views of glaciers, lakes and Georgia’s highest peaks—Ushba, Tetnuldi and Shkhara. After a rest and time to enjoy the scenery drive to Panaga village and then to Kutaisi. After a full day in the mountains spend a quiet evening in the city. This is your most dramatic hiking day.
Drive back to Tbilisi with stops along the way. First visit Gori, the birthplace of Stalin and tour the Stalin Museum. Then explore Uplistsikhe, an ancient cave town carved into rock, once a stop along the Silk Road. Wander through its stone halls, tunnels and old dwellings. After this glimpse into Georgia’s past return to the capital. The rest of the day is free for you to relax, enjoy a nice dinner or do some shopping. Today blends history and travel, ending your adventure back where it began.
Spend a lazy morning in Tbilisi. Have breakfast, take a stroll through the city or do some shopping. When you’re ready your private driver will take you to the airport for your flight home. Leave Georgia with the memories of the mountains, villages, hospitality and the Caucasus.
