DAY 1

Baku

You will start your journey in Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital by the Caspian Sea, known for Baku’s fresh air and unique climate. The city’s pleasant weather, shaped by its coastal location, makes it especially appealing for visitors year-round. After a VIP reception at the airport with lounge access during immigration and customs, you will be met by your personal English-speaking guide and driver. A luxury car will transfer you to your hotel. Check in and spend the evening at leisure to get used to Baku’s vibrant atmosphere.

DAY 2

Baku

Baku’s Old City is one of the best places to visit in Baku. Walk with your guide through the medieval Inner City, Icheri Cheher, a UNESCO World Heritage Site whose history spans several centuries. Explore its narrow streets with ancient caravanserais, hammams, mosques, and churches, and experience Baku’s rich historical and cultural heritage. The mosques reflect the importance of religion in Azerbaijan, where the majority of the population are muslims. See Baku's Maiden Tower and Baku's Shirvanshah’s Palace, architectural wonders of Azerbaijan’s past. End the day with a visit to the Azerbaijani Carpet Museum to learn about Azerbaijan’s weaving heritage, a unique art form passed down through generations. You can also discover Baku’s fascinating museums, such as art and history museums, which showcase the city’s diverse cultural offerings. While exploring, don’t miss the chance to sample local food in the Old City for an authentic cultural experience. If you are interested in exploring Baku’s historical sites, museums, or culinary experiences, the Old City offers plenty to discover. Baku is also home to the Flame Towers, one of its most iconic modern landmarks.

Baku

DAY 3

Baku

Fire Temples and Nobel Legacy. Go to the Absheron Peninsula to visit the Ateshgah Fire Temple, a historical site of Zoroastrian worship that has played a significant role in the region's religion for centuries. The temple, with its origins influenced by Iran and regional religious traditions, is remarkably well preserved, allowing visitors to experience its ancient atmosphere. This area is known for its natural gas outlets and now has a temple with an artificial flame. Back in Baku, visit Baku's Villa Petrolea, the Nobel brothers' former home and one of Azerbaijan's fascinating museums, symbolizing Azerbaijan's industrial heritage and oil legacy, which has stood for more than 120 years. End the day with a tour of Baku's Heydar Aliyev Centre, Baku's modern architectural icon designed by Zaha Hadid, representing Baku's modernity and innovative spirit—often compared to Dubai for its cutting-edge design.

DAY 4

Sheki

Travel to Sheki via Shamakhi and Lahij. Depart Baku for Sheki, first stopping in Shamakhi, a city rich in Islamic history, where the Juma Mosque stands as a testament to the importance of religion in the region and the predominance of Muslims in the area. Take the scenic road through the mountains, passing through traditional villages along the route, each offering unique customs and authentic local experiences that showcase the diversity of the country. Detour through the Greater Caucasus to Lahij, an ancient village famous for its artisanal crafts, which have been passed down for centuries and are an important part of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage. Walk its cobblestone streets, see local artisans and maybe try your hand at copper engraving. Sampling local food along the way is a highlight of the journey. End the day’s journey in Sheki, a historic town set amid mountain views and natural beauty, renowned for its role as a hub on the Silk Road. Sheki and Lahij are among the best places to experience Azerbaijan’s culture and history, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s cultural experience. Both towns are also ideal spots to rest and unwind, making them perfect getaways during your journey.

Sheki

DAY 5

Ganja

Sheki and Ganja. Discover Sheki, one of the best places to visit in the country, an ancient Silk Road trade hub in the Caucasus Mountains, famous for its beautiful architecture and centuries of history as part of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage. This experience is available as a small group tour, offering a more personalized and communal group atmosphere led by expert guides. Start at the busy Sheki Bazaar, where you can sample local food, then visit the Palace of Sheki Khans, a royal summer residence with stunning stained glass and unique cooling systems. Be sure to allocate enough time to fully appreciate the historical sites and their rich stories, which have endured for centuries. Visit the historic Sheki caravanserai, now a hotel and museum. Travel to Kish to see the Caucasian Albanian church, one of the oldest churches in the region, with a history spanning centuries, and learn how to make kelagayi silk shawls. You can also extend your journey with a visit to Gabala, a popular nearby destination known for its natural beauty and attractions, as a day trip from Sheki or Ganja. End the day in Ganja, another of the best places in Azerbaijan's diverse country, for an overnight stay. While in the region, explore the Shah Abbas Mosque, reflecting the importance of religion and the predominance of Muslims in the area.

DAY 6

Baku

Ganja to Baku. Explore Ganja, one of Azerbaijan’s best places to visit, known for its rich history and culture, and as the birthplace of Nizami Ganjavi. Discover Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage by visiting significant landmarks like the Shah Abbas Mosque, where religion plays a central role and reflects the predominance of Muslims in the area, as well as the Javadkhan Mausoleum, Nizami’s Mausoleum, and the Bottle House with thousands of glass bottles. Experience local food in Ganja to get a taste of the country’s culinary traditions. After exploring Azerbaijan’s heritage in Ganja, return to Baku in the evening. For those seeking a more comprehensive travel package, consider extending your journey to include Quba, another of the best places in the country, renowned for its natural beauty, outdoor activities, and cultural attractions. Quba is especially popular for hiking, with scenic mountain treks and trails suitable for various skill levels. In the winter season, Quba’s mountainous areas also offer excellent opportunities for winter sports such as skiing.

Baku

DAY 7

Baku

Gobustan Day Trip and Baku. Take a day trip to Gobustan National Park, one of Azerbaijan's best places to visit and a UNESCO-listed site that is central to the country's cultural heritage. The park is famous for its ancient rock art, including petroglyphs and cave paintings that depict prehistoric life, animals, and hunting scenes. Visiting Gobustan National Park also offers the chance to see mud volcanoes, sample local food, explore one of the area's fascinating museums with artifacts from Azerbaijan's regions, and experience the Gaval Dash, a natural musical stone. After visiting the park, return to Baku to spend the late afternoon at leisure, maybe revisit the city's modern amenities or its historic Inner City.

DAY 8

BAKU - DEPARTURE

Enjoy your last morning in Baku with a leisurely walk along Baku Boulevard or a tea at a local café. A private car will take you to the airport's VIP terminal where you can relax in the lounge, while all departure formalities are taken care of. Depart from Azerbaijan with memories of the country's cultural and historical landscapes.

The story

The tour was born from a fascination with Azerbaijan's unique blend of ancient traditions and modern innovations. Captivated by the allure of Baku's Eastern metropolis spirit, the rich history of Icheri Cheher, and the mystical Fire Temples, our team envisioned a journey bridging the ancient and the contemporary.

The trip through Sheki's silk history, Ganja's poetic roots, and Gobustan's prehistoric art reflects a deep desire to showcase Azerbaijan's cultural tapestry.

This adventure was crafted not just to explore destinations but to immerse travellers in the narrative of a land where East meets West, history converses with modernity, and every corner tells a story.
