DAY 2

Anamaduwa

After breakfast travel 2.5 hours to Anamaduwa to stay at The Mudhouse, a peaceful eco retreat surrounded by nature. This is the perfect spot to disconnect and get into outdoor life. Go swimming or kayaking in the nearby lakes, bike ride through the countryside or just walk in the forest. At night enjoy a candlelit dinner made from local organic ingredients. The Mudhouse is an off-grid experience where you can stargaze in silence and listen to the sounds of nature—an unforgettable escape into Sri Lanka’s wild and peaceful heartland.

DAY 3

Wilpattu National Park

Leave for Wilpattu National Park, the largest in Sri Lanka, known for its wildlife and quiet beauty. After checking in join a half day jeep safari with a local guide. Look out for leopards, sloth bears, water buffalos and deer as you travel through forests and lakes. Between drives enjoy a river dip or nature walk. Wilpattu’s charm is in its remoteness and low crowds, so you have a peaceful encounter with Sri Lanka’s untamed wilderness. End the day at your lodge surrounded by the jungle.

DAY 4

Mannar

Start the day with another safari to catch wildlife in the early hours. Then drive to Mannar stopping to visit the ancient monastery of Tantirimalee along the way. Mannar is an island known for its peaceful atmosphere and strong cultural heritage. Stay at Abode Hibernation in Pesalai, a quiet village home to a Tamil Christian community. Spend the afternoon meeting locals, relaxing on the quiet beaches and enjoying fresh seafood. This remote location is a slower pace and a deeper connection to rural Sri Lankan life.

DAY 5

Mannar

Start the day with a local breakfast. Then take some time to explore Mannar’s quiet beaches and villages. The area still has remnants of the civil war—ruins and abandoned buildings that tell powerful stories of the past. This peaceful island is a chance to reflect on the resilience of its people and the beauty that still exists here. Whether walking through palm groves, talking with villagers or having a simple meal by the sea you will discover the strength and spirit of this special place.

DAY 6

Jaffna

Drive to Jaffna, Sri Lanka’s northern capital, known for its Tamil heritage and history. Check into the Jaffna Heritage Hotel and start exploring the city. Visit the historic Jaffna Fort, which still shows the scars of the war. Its old walls, colonial structures and quiet corners speak of hardship and hope. Learn how the city is recovering and rebuilding and discover its cultural mix of Hindu temples, churches and colonial buildings. End the day with a relaxed evening in this atmospheric city.

DAY 7

Jaffna

Spend the day at Casuarina Beach, one of Jaffna’s most beautiful coastal spots. Its calm, shallow waters and soft sand is perfect for swimming or just chill under the casuarina trees. This beach was spared during the war and is a pristine natural escape. If you’re up for more you can explore the nearby islands by boat, each with its own unique sights and quiet shores. This slow paced day gives you time to enjoy Jaffna’s natural beauty and gentle rhythm, away from the crowds.

DAY 8

Jaffna

Today you will visit Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, one of the most important Hindu temples in Sri Lanka. Watch as locals come to pray and participate in rituals, especially during festivals when music and processions fill the air. Admire the intricate carvings and colourful towers of the temple which reflect centuries of devotion. This is a place of energy and peace and a meaningful cultural experience.

DAY 9

Jaffna

Visit Kadurugoda Temple, a quiet Buddhist site over a thousand years old. This ancient monastery has stone stupas and is believed to have been visited by Lord Buddha himself. Although small and peaceful the site has deep spiritual and historical significance. Walk around the grounds, take in the calm surroundings and reflect on the religious diversity of this northern region. The rest of the day is free to relax at your hotel or wander around Jaffna’s markets and neighbourhoods at your own pace.

DAY 10

Trincomalee

Leave Jaffna and drive south to Trincomalee passing through scenic landscapes that also have memories of the civil war. The journey itself is part of the experience, with views of changing countryside and birdlife. On arrival check into a peaceful beach hotel just outside the city. Spend the rest of the day to unwind, feel the sea breeze and enjoy your stay. This calm coastal location is the perfect break after several days of history and sightseeing.

Today is all about relaxation. Start your day with a massage or spa treatment at your hotel. Then explore the beautiful waters—snorkelling is popular with coral reefs just offshore. You might see tropical fish or even turtles. Spend the afternoon on the beach or by the pool, soaking up the sun. End the day with a sunset walk or dinner by the sea. Trincomalee gives you the chance to slow down and enjoy Sri Lanka’s coastal life.

DAY 12

Trincomalee

Your last day in Trincomalee is free to do as you wish. You could visit the town’s temples, wander through the market or learn more about the deep-water port that has shaped this city’s history. If you prefer stay close to the hotel and walk along the beach, collect shells and enjoy the view. The pace is slow and peaceful—perfect for reflection before you head back into Sri Lanka’s cultural heartland. Take in the calm of the coast before you go.

DAY 13

Sigiriya

Travel to Sigiriya and stop in the Cultural Triangle to visit the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Climb the rock to see ancient frescoes and views of the surrounding jungle. Later visit the Aukana Buddha statue, a towering image carved from solid rock. In Dambulla visit the local food market and sample tropical fruits and spices. End the day in Sigiriya where you’ll stay close to some of Sri Lanka’s most important heritage sites. This is a cultural highlight.

Wander through Kandy’s botanical gardens or take a quiet walk around the lake. End the day with a peaceful evening in this hill-country city.

DAY 15

Negombo

Head west to the coast and stop at the quiet Arankele Forest Monastery. This peaceful site is surrounded by trees and ancient ruins, perfect for a short walk and some quiet reflection.
