EXPLORE ANCIENT CITIES & ROCK FORTRESSES: Step back in time at the ancient capital of Anuradhapura, visit the cave temples of Dambulla and climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Both Sigiriya and Dambulla are UNESCO World Heritage sites, reflecting Sri Lanka’s deep cultural roots and architectural brilliance.

TEA COUNTRY & COASTLINE DISCOVERY: Travel through Sri Lanka’s tea country on a scenic train ride to Nuwara Eliya, passing Sri Lanka tea plantations, tea estates and tea trails. Join a guided course at a tea factory to learn Ceylon tea production, sample orange pekoe and enjoy a freshly brewed cup overlooking scenery of many waterfalls and cascading waterfalls. DAY 1

ARRIVAL IN COLOMBO

Your journey begins as you land at Colombo Airport (Bandaranaike International Airport). A local representative will greet you and take you to Negombo, a coastal town known for its golden beaches and colonial charm. Settle into your hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing or strolling along the beach. Enjoy the sea breeze, sample some fresh seafood, and unwind after your travels. It’s the perfect start to your Sri Lankan adventure, giving you a taste of the peaceful, laid-back island lifestyle.

DAY 2

Wilpattu National Park

After breakfast, travel to Wilpattu, the largest and oldest of Sri Lanka's national parks. Wilpattu is renowned for its wild elephants and a remarkable diversity of endemic birds, making it a prime destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Once you arrive, check in to your tented camp and take time to relax in this peaceful natural setting. As evening approaches, head out on your first wildlife safari. The park is home to leopards, sloth bears, wild elephants, and a wide variety of birdlife, including many endemic species. Keep your camera ready for exciting animal sightings. Return to camp and enjoy dinner under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

DAY 3

Sigiriya

Enjoy breakfast before heading to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first ancient capital and a key destination within Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle. Explore its vast ruins, sacred stupas, and the Sri Maha Bodhi tree—believed to be over 2,000 years old and revered as a living relic associated with Lord Buddha. Continue your journey to Dambulla to visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, one of Sri Lanka's ancient cave temples. This UNESCO site houses hundreds of Buddha statues and colourful murals. After soaking in the spiritual history of these sacred places, drive to Sigiriya for an overnight stay.

Sigiriya

Today, climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a highlight of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. Admire its ancient frescoes, water gardens, and views from the top. As part of the village experience, explore a local market or local bazaar to discover regional produce, handicrafts, and street food. Travel by tractor, look out for birds and crocodiles, and enjoy a home-cooked lunch with a local family. MAHIYANGANAYA

Today’s drive takes you into the scenic interior of Sri Lanka, passing forests with towering trees, rolling hills and quiet rural towns, including charming small settlements that reflect local culture and everyday life. The distance covered allows you to appreciate how landscapes shift from the Cultural Triangle into the island’s greener heartlands. Arrive in Mahiyanganaya, an off-the-beaten-track region surrounded by natural beauty and a slower pace. After check-in, the rest of the day is unhurried. Settle into your accommodation, take a gentle walk if you wish, and enjoy a peaceful evening to rest, listen to the sounds of nature and take in the changing scenery as you prepare for the hill-country adventure ahead.

DAMBANA

Travel to Dambana to visit the Veddha community and meet Sri Lanka’s indigenous people. Later, continue towards the Knuckles Mountain Range in the central highlands, where elevation and a unique climate of frequent rain and wet conditions support exceptional biodiversity. Kandy

Rise early for a scenic trek through the Knuckles Range, where trekking and hiking are among the best ways to experience the terrain. Walk through misty forests, across valleys and past many waterfalls, with cascading waterfalls adding a cool, tranquil soundtrack to the trail. Routes vary by conditions, and your guide will choose the best path for the day; mountain biking may be possible as an optional adventure in this scenic region. Reach a summit viewpoint for panoramic views before descending. After the hike, enjoy lunch in a nearby village, then drive to Kandy, a cultural hub known for Sri Lankan tradition and religious diversity, including significant Hindu temples. This evening, enjoy a traditional Kandyan dance show with vibrant costumes and drumming.

Kandy

Explore Kandy, beginning at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Sri Lanka’s most important spiritual sites for Buddhists. The afternoon remains flexible for optional visits or time at leisure. In the evening, join a cooking class in a local home for an immersive cultural experience. Nuwara Eliya

Take the scenic train ride from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (subject to availability), winding through lush Sri Lanka tea plantations and misty hills. On arrival, explore this cool hill station known as “Little England” for its colonial buildings and gardens, including the iconic Grand Hotel. At an elevation high above sea level, Nuwara Eliya’s unique climate creates ideal conditions for tea cultivation and has shaped the region’s tea estates through British colonial influence and long-standing tradition. Visit a working tea estate and factory, a highlight you should not miss, to follow the full course of tea making from hand-picking leaves to processing and grading. BELIHULOYA

Set out early for Horton Plains National Park, a high-altitude plateau of grassy meadows and cloud forests. Horton Plains is renowned for endemic birds, so keep an eye out for unique species found only in Sri Lanka. Udawalawe National Park

DAY 12

Galle

Set off early for a jeep safari in Udawalawe. The park is home to herds of elephants, crocodiles, buffalo, and many birds. After the safari, continue to Galle in southern Sri Lanka. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle Fort, which is surrounded by the Indian Ocean and known for its Dutch architecture and cobbled streets. While in Galle Fort, stop by Fort Bazaar, a boutique hotel set within the historic 17th-century fortress, close to vibrant craft shops, art boutiques, and restaurants. End the day in the seaside town of Ahangama.

Galle

DEPARTURE FROM COLOMBO
