Today you’ll travel into Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle to visit Anuradhapura, one of the island’s ancient capitals. Explore large stupas, peaceful temples, and age-old stone carvings that reflect the country’s deep Buddhist roots. A highlight is the sacred Bodhi tree, believed to be the world’s oldest living tree with a written history. Walk through temple courtyards and learn about the rituals still practised here. DAY 3

Mihintale

Begin your day at Mihintale, a peaceful hilltop site known as the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Climb ancient stone steps to see white stupas, old monastery ruins, and sweeping views over the forested plains. Frangipani trees and quiet paths make this a very special place. Later, return to Anuradhapura for more time to explore or choose an optional visit to Minneriya National Park. If you go to the park, you might see herds of elephants, birds, and other animals during a jeep safari through open fields and forested areas.

DAY 4

Dambulla

Travel to Polonnaruwa, the island’s medieval capital, where well-preserved temples, stone Buddha statues, and palace ruins show the strength of Sri Lanka’s early kingdoms. Afterwards, continue to Sigiriya, where you’ll climb the famous rock fortress. On the way up, see colourful frescoes and ancient wall carvings. At the top are the ruins of a royal palace with sweeping views. Later, enjoy a private elephant experience where you can interact gently with these magnificent creatures. End the day at Dambulla’s cave temples, filled with statues and murals that bring Buddhist stories to life.

DAY 5

Kandy

Head south to Kandy, stopping at a spice plantation to see how cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves are grown. In Kandy, explore the sacred Temple of the Tooth, home to a relic of the Buddha. Watch the puja ceremony and take in the atmosphere. Walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens, known for beautiful trees and orchids, and explore Kandy’s busy market streets. In the evening, enjoy a private show of traditional dance and fire walking — a vivid display of Sri Lanka’s cultural traditions passed down through generations.

Hill Country

Today you’ll head into Sri Lanka’s scenic Hill Country. Stay in a tea planter’s bungalow, now a luxury retreat surrounded by misty hills and green fields. Visit a nearby tea factory to learn how tea is picked and processed, then taste some of the best brews. You can spend the afternoon relaxing with views of the hills, walking through tea fields, or enjoying the peaceful surroundings by the pool. This region is cool and quiet, perfect for slowing down and enjoying the natural beauty of Sri Lanka’s mountains.

DAY 7

Hill Country

Enjoy one of the world’s most scenic train rides through the Hill Country. Travel from your tea estate to the small town of Ella, passing through tunnels, forests, tea plantations, and bridges high above the valleys. DAY 10

Swim in the infinity pool, walk along the quiet beach, or enjoy your villa’s private plunge pool.
