Royal Rajasthan Mumbai Explorer

Delhi to Mumbai – 11 days

This scheduled small-group journey links North India’s icons with lived experiences and low-impact travel. Start in Delhi with a clever mix of Mughal landmarks, Old Delhi lanes by rickshaw, an attar-blending session and a calm pause at a Sikh gurdwara, capped by dinner at the famed Bukhara. Ride the fast Gatimaan to Agra for the Taj at sunrise and Agra Fort, then continue via Fatehpur Sikri to Jaipur for an early-morning cycle, an immersive city story, and a friendly Rajasthani cooking class. CNG tuk-tuks and e-rickshaws keep city moves clean and quick.

Track the water wisdom of Amber Fort before boarding the Vande Bharat to lakeside Udaipur for palace rooms, temple walks and a soft Aravalli hike with sundowners. Cross into Gujarat for Ahmedabad’s old-city heritage walk, the serene Sabarmati Ashram and (with permission) an inspiring visit to SEWA, plus a classic Gujarati thali. A final Vande Bharat run brings you to Mumbai for an easy finish near the airport. Expert Tour Leaders and local guides handle timings, tickets and tips—so you can simply enjoy the days.

Highlights

DELHI CULTURAL TOUR: Humayun’s Tomb, an all-women NGO workshop, Chandni Chowk by rickshaw, personalised attar-blending, Jama Masjid and a calming gurdwara visit. Round off with a classic tandoor feast at Bukhara. A paced first chapter that engages all five senses and sets the tone for our scheduled small-group journey.

TAJ MAHAL AT SUNRISE: Enter the Taj at first light for marble inlay glowing softly, then read Mughal power at Agra Fort’s palaces and halls. After breakfast, wander Fatehpur Sikri’s red-sandstone courts. Rail into and out of Agra keeps the day efficient, low-impact and crowd-smart with our Tour Leader handling timings.

AMBER FORT WATER SYSTEMS: Unpack Amber’s ingenious rain-harvesting on a specialist walk, then see the Pink City stir on a gentle morning cycle with temple aarti, laughter yoga and fresh street snacks. Later, an immersive storytelling tour and a friendly Rajasthani cooking session—recipes to keep—round out Jaipur’s craft, cuisine and city-planning stories.

UDAIPUR PALACES: Explore City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Saheliyon-ki-Bari by e-rickshaw, then a soft royal-trail hike to Badi Lake with sundowners. In Ahmedabad, join the old-city heritage walk, pause at Sabarmati Ashram and, subject to permission, meet SEWA’s inspiring women. Efficient Vande Bharat links and CNG tuk-tuks keep the footprint light.

Why Asian Geographical?

The difference with the Asian Geographical is, that each of our holidays is designed with extreme precision of a mountaineering expedition.

DAY 1

ARRIVAL IN DELHI

Warm meet-and-greet on landing, then a smooth hotel transfer in CNG sedans (cleaner, quieter, ideal for city air). Settle in and meet your Tour Leader for a short welcome and tomorrow’s briefing; they’ll share local tips on currency, dress codes and safe dining. With our scheduled small-group departures, we time arrivals to keep day one easy—rest, reset your body clock, or take a gentle stroll nearby. Delhi’s first impressions—broad avenues, domes and bazaars—await tomorrow.

DAY 2

New Delhi

Begin at Humayun’s Tomb, the Mughal forerunner to the Taj. Join a hands-on craft session with an all-women NGO, then dive into Old Delhi: rickshaw through Chandni Chowk’s lanes, sample a time-honoured snack, and blend a personalised attar to take home. Pause at Jama Masjid’s grand courtyard, then find calm at a Sikh gurdwara and peek into the langar kitchen. Finish with a Lutyens’ Delhi orientation drive before a celebratory Bukhara dinner—classic tandoor done right. Dress modestly for religious sites.

Meals Included: Breakfast

DAY 3

Agra

Board the morning Gatimaan Express (Executive Class) to Agra; our team handles seats and luggage so you can relax. Transfer by local CNG tuk-tuks to your hotel, then explore Agra Fort’s palaces and audience halls—your guide traces the evolution from Akbar to Shah Jahan. As light softens, cross to Mehtab Bagh for aligned riverbank views of the Taj Mahal—a perfect prelude to tomorrow’s sunrise. Small-group timings keep queues light and pacing unhurried.

Meals Included: Breakfast

DAY 4

Jaipur

Enter the Taj Mahal at dawn for marble inlay glinting in first light; your expert explains pietra dura and symmetry without rushing. Return for breakfast, then drive to Fatehpur Sikri to walk red-sandstone courts of Akbar’s short-lived capital. After a relaxed local lunch, continue to Bharatpur to board the afternoon chair-car train to Jaipur. On arrival, transfer by quiet e-rickshaws/CNG tuk-tuks to your heritage stay. This evening, roll up sleeves for a friendly Rajasthani cooking class at Dera Mandawa, with recipes to take home.

Meals Included: Breakfast

Hotel Options:

Grand Mercure or similar (Deluxe Room)

DAY 5

Jaipur

See the Pink City wake up on a gentle guided cycle (or ride in the support vehicle): temple aarti, laughter yoga in the park, and fresh street bites. Later, an immersive city narrative weaves planning, kingship and craft across havelis and temples, capped with a relaxed lunch overlooking the heritage precinct—plus a short ride in a women-driven pink e-rickshaw. Free time, or opt for Jhalana Leopard Reserve: a close-to-city jeep safari with strong chances of leopard on Aravalli ridgelines. Return to your haveli in time to unwind.

Meals Included: Breakfast

DAY 6

Udaipur

Ride local CNG tuk-tuks to Amber Fort and take a jeep to the hilltop complex. With our specialist, follow a heritage walk that unpacks Amber’s ingenious rain-harvesting—stepwells, channels and tanks that sustained a desert capital—alongside mirrored halls, jharokha screens and lakeside views. Later, transfer by e-rickshaw/CNG tuk-tuk to the station for the Vande Bharat Express to Udaipur (Executive Class); packed dinners are provided and your Tour Leader manages seats, luggage and platform changes so the small group stays stress-free. On arrival we switch to a comfortable coach/Innovas for the lakeside hotel transfer. Public transport legs cut travel time and footprint while adding a slice of modern India in motion.

Meals Included: Breakfast

Hotel Options:

Jagat Palace or similar

DAY 7

Udaipur

Tour Udaipur by e-rickshaw/CNG tuk-tuk: the City Palace’s museum rooms of glasswork, frescoes and Mewar regalia; a stroll through the bazaar lanes to Jagdish Temple’s black-stone Vishnu; then Saheliyon-ki-Bari’s lawns, fountains and marble pavilions. Late afternoon, drive to Sajjangarh (Monsoon Palace) for sweeping Aravalli views before a soft hike along the old royal hunting trail towards Badi Lake. Spot watchtowers, birdlife and hill flora as stories of Mewar’s rulers bring the landscape alive. Pause at a scenic perch for group sundowners while the palace silhouette glows at dusk; your vehicle meets you at the lake. A well-paced day with time to wander and photograph.

Meals Included: Breakfast

Hotel Options:

Khimsar Fort or similar

DAY 8

Ahmedabad

Day 8: Ahmedabad Drive to Abu Road for the morning Vande Bharat to Sabarmati (Executive Class). On arrival, hop into CNG tuk-tuks for a short, breezy transfer to your heritage hotel—quick, light on emissions, and fun in a small group. This afternoon, visit SEWA (subject to prior permission), the pioneering women-led union supporting self-employed workers through co-operatives and training. Hear first-hand how craft, finance and healthcare programmes strengthen livelihoods. Dinner is an authentic Gujarati thali at Agashiye, where your guide explains regional dishes and etiquette. Today blends clean, efficient rail with meaningful social insight—two sides of contemporary Gujarat.

Meals Included: Breakfast

DAY 9

Ahmedabad

Begin early on the walled city’s signature heritage walk from Swaminarayan Mandir through pols (neighbourhoods), carved havelis, artisan nooks and on to Jama Masjid’s spacious courtyard—a living tapestry of faiths and trades. After breakfast, visit Hutheesing Jain Temple, renowned for intricate stonework, a dome on 12 pillars and rainwater-harvesting tradition. Later, find quiet perspective at Sabarmati Ashram: Gandhi’s modest home, museum galleries and stories of the Dandi March set beside the river. Your expert keeps the pace gentle, adds context on stepwells, craft guilds and urban conservation, and suggests a sweet or savoury snack stop en route. Evening free for textiles and crafts.

Meals Included: Breakfast

image
Ahmedabad

DAY 10

Mumbai

This morning, visit the Calico Museum (advance registration required; closed Mondays/public holidays) to see one of India’s finest textile collections spanning five centuries—technique galleries, court fabrics and rare ritual cloths. If Calico isn’t available, choose Lalbhai Museum (Indian art), the Tribal Museum (ethnography) or Shreyas Folk Museum (Gujarat folk traditions)—your Tour Leader arranges the best fit. After an early lunch, take CNG tuk-tuks to the station for the Vande Bharat Express to Mumbai (Executive Class). On arrival, our coach/Innovas whisk the group to an airport-area hotel for a calm finale and smooth departures tomorrow. Rail keeps the journey swift and sociable; luggage handling is included.

Meals Included: Breakfast

Hotel Options:

Welcom Hotel or similar

DAY 11

MUMBAI - DEPARTURE

At the agreed time, transfer by air-conditioned coach/Innova to the international terminal. Your Tour Leader and local representative assist with trolleys, check-in and any GST or baggage questions. For later flights, we can store bags or suggest a short, time-safe café stop nearby. Farewell from Asian Geographical—scheduled small-group travel made easy, insightful and well-timed.

Meals Included: Breakfast

The story

The inspiration for our Rajasthan Heritage Expedition was born from a deep love for Asia’s rich cultural and natural legacy. In Rajasthan, we were captivated by architectural grandeur, vibrant traditions and untamed landscapes, but also the delicate balance between preserving heritage and embracing modernity. Beyond palaces and forts, we discovered remarkable wildlife habitats, including Jawai Bandh Lake, where flamingos, geese and cranes gather seasonally, and Mount Abu, Rajasthan’s only hill station, noted for distinctive flora and fauna that add another layer to the state’s natural heritage.

Determined to honour Rajasthan’s past while supporting its future, we shaped an itinerary around sustainable travel, cultural immersion and wildlife conservation. From ancient forts and bustling bazaars to serene desert ecosystems, travellers connect with local communities, artisans and historians, with experiences curated to support heritage preservation, ethical tourism and environmental care.

At Asian Geographical, our mission is to showcase Asia’s natural and cultural wonders while helping protect them for future generations. This journey is more than exploration; it is responsible travel and meaningful discovery across Rajasthan and onward to Mumbai.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

JOURNEY STYLE, PACE & WHAT MAKES ITGREEN”: This is a scheduled small-group journey designed to reduce road mileage and improve comfort by using efficient rail where it makes sense, and cleaner urban transport (CNG vehicles and e-rickshaws) for short transfers and city touring. The rhythm is purposeful but not punishing: early starts for sunrise/heritage walks and the Taj, balanced by well-timed arrivals, seat-managed trains, and relaxed evenings. You’ll experience India “in motion” rather than from a private car bubble—stations, tuk-tuks, short walks and lively neighbourhoods are part of the character, not an inconvenience.

GROUP MANAGEMENT, TRAINS & TRANSITIONS: This itinerary has multiple moving parts—Executive Class rail sectors, urban tuk-tuk transfers and a mix of hotels—so smooth handling of transitions is central to the experience. Your Tour Leader manages boarding flow, seating, luggage handling and platform changes so the group stays calm and together, particularly on busy stations. Expect a supportive small-group dynamic with clear pacing and regular comfort stops, without it feeling like a flag-following tour. Timing is planned to avoid the hardest city traffic periods where possible, but India is dynamic; flexibility is built into the operating style.

WALKING, CYCLING & ACTIVITY LEVEL: Activity is mainly easy to moderate: heritage walks in old quarters, a gentle morning cycle in Jaipur (with a support vehicle option), and short hikes in Udaipur’s hills. Heat, crowds and standing time can feel more demanding than distance, especially in Delhi, Agra and Ahmedabad’s walled city lanes. You’ll be most comfortable with breathable clothing, shoes suitable for uneven stone and steps, and a light day pack for water and sun protection. Optional additions (such as a leopard safari near Jaipur) are available for those who want a more wildlife-led moment without changing the overall rhythm.

CULTURAL ETIQUETTE, COMMUNITY VISITS & “REAL INDIAMOMENTS: Several experiences are designed to be meaningful rather than merely photogenic—women-led craft and livelihood organisations, heritage neighbourhoods, and religious sites that are active, not staged. These come with real-world etiquette: modest dress for temples and mosques, head-covering and barefoot rules in Sikh spaces, and discretion with photography around worshippers and in community settings. The tone is always respectful and unforced; your leader will guide the group so interactions feel natural and dignified, not extractive or performative.

HOTELS, COMFORT & PRACTICAL PACKING: The accommodation mix leans towards high-comfort landmarks and heritage character, with reliable service and good locations for early starts. Expect security screening at premium hotels and at major monuments; it’s routine and factored into timing. Packing is best kept streamlined: soft-sided luggage is easier with trains, and a compact “daily essentials” kit (passport copy, meds, chargers, water, wipes) makes station days effortless. This is a journey where thoughtful logistics create ease—so you can enjoy the craft, food and city texture without feeling over-managed.
